Betty - yes we're all better now
job's going great, but very, very, very busy!
tomorrow a group of us deliver church newsletters, take voice lessons (duet is on Sunday), I bake some pie suckers, and 10 doz Oat Cakes (for Robbie Burns Dinner on the 22nd).
Need to get some ideas for National Pie Day, and think I have a good one. We don't want to do the actual "Pie In the face", but I think we could give out little cards saying "You've been Pied" with a picture of Charlie Chaplin "pie-ing" someone (seems to me I've seen a picture like that?!?!)
What's happening in your neck of the woods friends? Dec/10
LOL, sounds like so much fun Susan, glad everything is going good and do hope the weather co-operates for delivery of the flyers...
Snowed last night but only amounted to a few inches, looked outside and it's snowing and a bit of blowing...
Thought I'd take out the 'quilt as you go' box of cuttings that I set aside in the fall and see if I can finish this quilt by tomorrow night..not sure what I will do with it but it's better put away finished than in pieces ..
Well "M" Danie did not come back last night and most of her things were removed from the house..I believe she picked up on a few key words and took what I said in a completely different context..just sick about it, hate to hurt anyones feelings, would rather mine be hurt but it's how it is and now we'll see if she continues to stay here until she can find alternate accommodations for she and her 3 teens..being on my own for so long I felt that I was the border and they were the owners, everything changed within the household..did learn one thing..when you say someone can come for awhile MAKE ALL THE RULES and expectations very clear and both have a copy...now I think of it.lol
"M' hope you are feeling better this morning..maybe chinese was just the cure..was at Chinese buffet on Thursday..love the lemon chicken..
Off for coffee and to sew..
Gab later
Susan .. I just spent some time looking for a 'Pied Charlie Chaplin' .. couldn't find one .. course, I only spent 5 minutes Lol
Betty, I know how you feel, and it's just plain and simple crummy to FEEL you have hurt someones feelings or caused them to feel bad .. but .. really .. if you hadn' stuck up for yourself, I think things would have gotten lots worse.
I feel fine this morning .. probably all the shoveling LoL .. not that we got LOTS of snow, but enough that it had to be kept cleared or face a large amount to throw around. I'll take some pics, looks SO pretty out there .. even with NO sun up yet ^_^
Lorna is happy as she'll be going over to do the driveways next door .. always lifts her spirits ..
Hope everyone enjoys their day
~M~
Snowing here, but not blowing..think my plowman is waiting for it to stop before coming and doing the yard..have the walkways to do..Danie did call in a good humour, we gabbed a bit, said she would be here until she could find alternate accommodations for she and the boys..understands it was a bit much having an entire family almost live here..so that's behind me..anyway she told me to leave the steps and walkways which I'd gladly do but if I've energy left over by mid afternoon might do me good to get some fresh air..won't take the roads though as they've not yet been done.
"M" Lorna sure does give it her best, as long as she doesn't overdo guess it's ok..still odd that you being so north of me you don't get the snow we do????? bet that pleases you..lol
Well, still working on quilts so best I get back to sewing before I get lazy!
BRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr .. -20C right now .. sitting by the woodstove contemplating the day and thinking the majority of it will be spent INSIDE !!
Did you get your quilt completed Betty?
Think I'll treat myself to another cup of coffee ..
Have a super day
~M~
"M" it's bitter cold here as well but it has stopped snowing, plowman came, lordy he does a wonderful job, worth every penny! Should be out for a walk but decided that between leaving everything while I was working on Christmas things/wood cutting etc. and then putting away all the Christmas decor that the house needed a good cleaning..upstairs done, downstairs family room done, as the the craft room and woodcutting room well let's say I'd need another weekend...perhaps next weekend I can tackle cleaning and purging..got about 8 garbage bags full of junk, a box or two for Value Village which I can drop off tomorrow so making the most of the cold weather being inside so that as soon as the snow leaves it's garden time for me..
As for the quilt "M", plugging along on it here and there when I take a cleaning break..ran out of thread so at 7am I was at Walmart waiting for the doors to open, got groceries done, 6 spools of thread and home by 8am..only thing is, the thread isn't the best quality and when it comes to topstitching it keeps breaking so will get all the squares done and go to Barrie Fabricland one night this week and pick up quality thread. Sure do miss the Fabricland in Midland..realizing just how many Sunday trips to their store for supplies I made..
Hungry for scalloped potatoes, so think that's what I shall have for supper tonight, that and steak! treat myself to a home cooked meal..
You know, as I puddle through with this and that I realize just how much I love having the house to myself..never again will I take in house guests, will keep to the B & B come summertime, but they come for 1 or 2 nights and then are gone...must be getting old..
Was telling a friend that the most amazing thing is I've been on DG and met such nice people, either through posting, calling, visiting etc. that at the touch of a keyboard when I feel like gabbing always is there someone there, never feel lonely...soooo perhaps that's why I have no need for full time guests..or maybe I'm getting older and crochety..
On our way to our Duet at Church - His Eye Is On The Sparrow!!
You're just getting old and crochety Betty! L0L!
I have lived alone all my adult life and I find I cannot tolerate anybody visiting me for more than a couple of days- when my parents were still alive it was very difficult because my mother would want to stay for 3-4 weeks. I finally had to tell her 2 weeks max and even that was tough. Now on 3 occasions somebody has very kindly stayed with me after surgery for several days and I do appreciate the care but still when they go home it is wonderful to have the place to yourself again ( plus the animals of course)
You are a very generous soul Betty but I think there needs -for most of us - to be a limit to our generousity.
We are still in a deep freeze here. I am going to start driving this week maybe today even though it is pretty cold I need to go do a home visit to see about accepting a sheltie cross into our foster program .Yesterday friends drove me to the Hort Society for a workshop I signed up for before Xmas. It was half an hour late starting and I finally left 2 hours later as I could see it would be another hour and I just could not sit there any longer. Too bad- I think I missed some good bits. It was a workshop on seed starting. I bought myself an indoor light garden before Xmas- still in the boxes in the basement with the thought I would start annuals for containers and veggies too instead of buying every year.
Hope you are all staying warm!
I agree with you Carol on having someone in your home over an extended period .. it's tough fer sure .. I know when Lorna's folks are here I am constantly heading for the bathroom and giving myself PEP TALKS .. LOL .. now everyone is going to think I'm LOOPY LoL ... it just seemed that if I was able to be ALONE in a quiet room .. I could sort out my thoughts, AND, (most important) .. my 'to do list' ..
Funny how we all have certain levels of comfort and tolerance when it comes to company .. I worked with a nurse from a small NW Ont town who CRAVED company and who would seldom say NO to a visitor ..
Gorgeous wintry day here .. cold, yes, but not bitterly anymore .. and the sun is SO beautiful .. Am taking Lorna out for a walk .. Piper still will not allow us to leash him :-( .. but .. Lilly will, so, she'll be our wee body guard !!
Sent the deposit for 'Kate' away today .. I ALMOST gave in to my feelings of angst with regards to another Westie, but .. ya only go around once, and I have every hope this wee one will be a total JOY !!
Susan .. hope your duet went well ..
Off I go
~M~
Carole, so nice to see you post and know that you are on the mend but just remember it takes time for you to gain all your strength so don't overdo..sorry about your not getting the full course in as I know you are anxious to use the system for seedling the you bought last fall...you wouldn't start them much before March would you? Still looking after the furries, God Bless you!
"M" you certainly will have your hands full with another Westie, must ask my brother where he got his two..
As for the company, don't get me wrong, always have company in and out of the house on a daily basis, love it as I prefer company coming in to my going out to visit it's just that 4 arranging their living accommodations with me without even asking kind of sent me in a turmoil...she is looking for alternate digs so she can have the children with her..
It's been grand this weekend, about another 2 hours and the entire house is cleaned, dusted etc. even doing my woodwork shop..leaving 2 tables full of wood pieces and hopefully when the painting girls come on Tuesday they'll take them all home..
As everyone enjoys my studio and door is always open for them to use it they just bring along this piece, that craft, a this, a that so now I'm purging, on the tables it goes, if they don't want it then garbage it shall go..
Susan, how did the duet with you and hubby go?
The duet was wonderful, but the recording left a lot to be desired:
The person recording was too near the piano, and it over-rode the vocal.
And the beginning was of the pianist, and part of Bob, then he swung over to include me and I have a microphone across my face the whole time. Then he finished up with the pianist (Bob thinks he has a "thing" for the pianist - she IS cute LOL)
I don't know if there's any way to lessen the volume of the piano which still keeping our vocals.
I dunno - any suggestions?
Hmmm not sure Susan, I'm sure it was lovely..did you get all the church flyers delivered yesterday?
Well, from 5am today and what I accomplished yesterday in the house cleaning I can say you can ALMOST eat on the floors..lol..perhaps not lol!!!
You kow when your tired you start to feel a chill, well that's where I'm at..have scalloped potatoes cooking, don't want to take a relaxing bath before they come out of the oven, you all know how I burn things so look at me, paying attention to my cooking. Once everything is out of the oven it's bath time for me, jammies and a relaxing night..earned my keep this weekend.
yes, people delivered them. I still have a "batch" to deliver, however.
'fraid I'm just a little tired of the newsletter - I seem to do the bulk of it.
ok, here's my vent - I create/put it together, with a template I created. Then I get it proofed, and print more than 50% of 800 newsletters. Someone decides to put a "hold" on it for more proofreading, and someone else tells a member of the newsletter committee that it Can't Go Out At All.
I then spend an evening calming one person down, and explain to another what the wording means (a misplaced dash confused some people).......
Then I re-print it, and fold some (200) while others fold the rest.
Guess what? I don't feel like adding delivering to the rest of my schedule ..... I'm tired of the newsletter at this point.
Anyway, I've put a bunch in our neighbourhood grocery store, and another batch in a ladies consignment store. The weather is nasty, and it's going to get much better by Thursday, so maybe I'll deliver them then.
I know, I should be admitting this to someone in the church, but don't want to admit defeat... I'm just tired of the whole schmozzle......
Not that you are defeated Susan but lordy, and take this from experience, the more you do the more you are expected to do..easy for those sitting back in their chairs to comment on how they thing it should be done, where it should be delivered but they just sit, time to pull the cushion from beneath them and delegate some of the work..come on now, you can do it, pretend it's something at work that needs to be delegated...
Meant to add that Danie called Sat. in good humour, said she'd come home that night, didn't see her, last night as I was just dozing off in she comes, I called out and asked how her weekend went, said fine, said her husband was going to set up a bedroom downstairs in their home, (talk about a big house) so she could be at home to do the homeschooling for the children..said he'd not come down, wouldn't bother her and maybe they could work on their relationship! Said she'd keep the room for a few more weeks so that if she felt overwhelmed she had a place to hang her coat!
Made me feel a little better about saying 'enough is enough'...
Cleaned all weekend, lordy now is the time for someone to visit me, even the cupboards and closets are neat and tidy, almost color coded..lol..guess it's me taking back my house!
Bitter cold here today, Toronto is getting the snow..looking out at clear blue sky ...oooh spring is just around the corner..
How are you all today, guess it's Martin Luther King holiday Monday in the states, all our friends are enjoying a 3 days weekend..no long weekend for us until Feb.21st..now does every province have Family Day?
Ugggggggggggg .. smack me with an oily SARDINE for complaining about our lack of snow !!! Now it will not STOP!
Have had about 10cm now and no sign of it letting up .. Lorna is happy .. she's next door and likely will come over here with the tractor to clear the snow from the driveways.
One nice thing ... MILD temps WAHOOOOOoooooooo .. puppy dogs are HAPPY !!!! Me too ^_^
Susan .. feel bad re the recording problems .. I don't know if someone in a store like 'Future Shop' in their sound dept might be able to help ?
As for the Newsletters .. well .. like Betty says .. time to DESIGNATE ... I was President of our Local nurses Union (ONA) for 11 years .. I finally cried 'UNCLE' .. i was doing IT all .. Pres., Sec., Treas, and my exec was having no problem with it at all .. my health started to be affected .. here I was a busy Mom, wife, nurse plus the responsibility of looking after over 125 registered nurses !!! I called a special meeting and called it quits .. everyone was SHOCKED .. but .. the world did NOT end, someone took the job and she designated superbly :-)
You'll burn out quickly if you try to do it all yourself ..
Betty .. hope all turns out well with Danie .. sure must be confusing for her, and you ..
Off to go and get Lorna
~M~
Well this is nice and chatty!
It's snowing here again! This is the second weekend my Hubby has spent 3 hrs a day doing snow with our tiddly snow blower. I think he is tired of it for sure. Sunday we did the roof snow removal with a handy dandy roof rake that was purchased at Revy some years ago. Our snow is about 3' deep on the roofs and more where it has drifted. Did ours, the Senior next door and drove out to Leduc to do Mom in Laws. She was so sorry to have us come and kept saying that she didn't want to bother us. I told her that coming out once a year to do her roof was No Big Deal and Her son liked to be able to help once in a while!. She did get that part of it thank goodnes.
Carol it's good to see that you are getting back on track. I'm thinking a 3 hr sit during an outing was probably a bit much so take it easy.
Looks like lots of clean up is happening when the weather keeps us in.
I poured water into my hybernating canna's and they still have a bit of weight so I will take them out at the end of Feb to get them going.
I have my seeds all over too and having a good look at what I will start when.
Bye for now from Snow all over Alberta.
Ann
I'm free! Drove yesterday and did just fine, was mostly on main roads which were quite clear but sure is cold here. Nice not to have to ask people to drive me places!
Yesterday went to arrange for rescue to take in a sweet little sheltie- medical issues in family and those currently looking after him cant keep becauseof allergies ,just as well we have the dog because poor fellow is severely overweight. Has been on a diet and walking 2-3 times a day for past month by current owners so wewill keep that up and hope to get some of the weight off. He is almost completely white with bue eyes.
Today I am finally going to pick up my antique dutch wall pendulum clock. Took it for cleaning etc in November and then I was in hospital when he called to say it was ready! And going to leave my antique ladies watch for him to work on. It belonged to my grandmother and I wear it at Lougheed House. There are serial numbers on both the case and the watch and I have been able to date it to about 1905 which is rather neat since the style of clothes we wear is circa 1900!
Better not shout too loudly because the snow is all around me and it's sunshine here in Barrie, wouldn't want it to find me! I don't have a Lorna lol to do my snow!
Ann, did the tin shed roof yesterday as well and have a very similar rake, got to keep doing it otherwise the roof would cave in, hoping by fall I'll have a new wooden shed with a really peaked room so no more going out and having to clear snow on it. I'm sure you MIL appreciated you doing her roof but can understand how she feels, know my boys are so busy and I hate saying I CANNOT do something and need their help...
For Christmas Ann I got a few bulbs in boxes and planting cups, guess you just add water to start them off, will have to check when they recommend..as for seeds, I usually start them far too soon and they get straggly and I lose them before I get to plant them in the gardens..won't bother this year..
Glad you got your wheels back Carole..feels nice to be able to come and go as you please, just hope you take it easy for a bit longer..bet the Sheltie is adorable, I've a mom who also kills her doggies with kindness and over feeds, often meals from the restaurant every night..she thinks she's being kind!!!
I've a pendulum clock I made years ago and it chimes on the 1/4, 1/2,3/4 and on the hour, Danie's boys were here and couldn't figure out how I could stand the noise...after awhile you don't even hear the chime..you'll be glad to have your back in the house..your grandmother's watch is lovely, nothing like you being garbed and having jewelery in the circa which you dress for. My mom gave me her mother's watch, she died in her early 30's, actually months before I was born, it's at least 65 years old, not sure if it works, should bring it somewhere to have it cleaned!
Went out at lunch and saw the 3.3 cubic ft. freezer I ordered as it was in, trying to see if somehow I can put it in my little aveo..called Greg to ask him to drop by after work to help me bring it in the house, he says 'no way mom can a freezer with 8 drawers fit in your vehicle' we'll see..
Whoa! It has been too cold here - and we've had lots of snow. It melted a lot today - was still fairly cold but the sun was strong.
I got a little Smart car last spring as I seldom drive with anyone and hardly ever have any really big loads, and it has been really hard the last week-and-a-half getting the car in and out of the back land and parking because it is so light, just no traction. Gonna have to get a bag of sand . . .
That's a beautiful watch Carole. I had a ladies watch that my grandmother got for her wedding, and it was stolen in a break-in some years ago. It was beautiful too, and such a nice remembrance of my gran.
Betty, I know how it feels to get your house back. I have had to have tenants the past 12 years since I bought the house, and as nice as some of them are, they're just always THERE, and I long for the times when they or I go away and I have some alone time. It's wearing me down, and I think I'll be selling the house in a couple years and getting a small condo so I can just have my own space. I crave it so much.
But I will have some alone time soon, and some warmth. None of the grandkids got their passport this year, though I stated chivvying them and their parents in August, so the annual granny week with a grandchild in Mexico won't happen, and I'm going to spend two glorious weeks in the sun, all by myself, around Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. I've always wanted to go there, it's so beautiful, and I saw an enchanting B&B and had been talking to the owner (e-mailing actually, and 'Facebooking') about getting there for a week this year some time, and as I was making these plans, found out that she'd passed away before Christmas.
It was very sad to hear, but will go anyway, and will get to her small village and take some small things for the children she worked with in an eco-project she started, for them to remember her by.
Keep warm and safe, all of you.
Here's my Dutch wall clock- it is a reproduction but even so dates to about 1950.
Susan I personally think there is only one solution to your situation with the newsletter and that is that you simply resign- completely. I have been in similar situations and seen others too and it just seems that nobody is willing to step up to help as long as you are there but...when you are suddenly no longer there others realise they have to step in and do some of the work. One group I worked with after I resigned 5 people were doing the same job I did by myself. The rescue group I work with the lady who started it was doing all the jobs that several of us now do but it was not until she realised she could no longer handle things that we were able to step in and take over ( in that case she had refused offers to take over some of the jobs)
Lovely clock Carole, priceless heirloom, bet you are thrilled to get it back! Great advice for Susan girls, been there done that as well, finally when you are burnt out there is always someone or in most cases many more who can take over the task...much of the time it's us who won't give in!!! Think about it Susan..
Cybercrone, how sad that your friend has passed on and you'll not get to meet her when you travel on your vacation, when will you be going? Yep, lots to be said for your very own space, am loving it!!! Came home last night after work and everything was in same place..nothing had to be done just SIT..
2 of my grandchildren got their passports last week, parents are leaving Sunday for a trip to the islands (given to Greg as a Christmas gift from his company) so they figured if they were applying for theirs might as well include their boys..great for me because sometimes I want to head over to Buffalo for the day and they could accompany me..grandma time!!!
Is bitter cold here, you know the kind of cold when you walk you hear the crunching sound, no snow since Sat. and that's ok for me...understand that you in Toronto will have to watch for snow and freezing rain..
When I purchased my Aveo I so wanted a smart car, I decided for one week I pretend that I had an smart car and see how I made out basically using just the front seat..after 1 day that was it for me...although I'd love one but they fit in better when you are a 2 car family... come spring, you'll have to head north and come visit?? what part of Toronto are you in?
Carol's pic of her Grandma's watch sent me into my cedar chest .. I had forgotten the 2 watches I have. One from an Uncle in law, married to my Dad's sister, and Fire Chief in White Plains NY retiring in 1915 !! I have the pocket watch he was given .. so lovely .. but .. I betcha I haven't looked at it in 5 years or more .. the other is an ages old railroaders pocket watch and fob .. wouldn't even wager a guess on the age of that one but am thinking late 1800s .. again .. there they sit in their boxes .. I think I'd almost be worried about displaying them somehow.
I think those li SMartCars are so neat .. be kinda nervous driving them on the expressways around here as the logging trucks seem to almost CHASE small cars !!!
Just popped in for a sec .. heading out to try snowshoeing out in the back .. my friend has brought her old pair (one yr old) for me to use .. will consider taking a camera, but may not if I feel I will be on my TUSH most of the time .. don't want to fall on it .. the camera that is LoL
Ciao
~M~
Marilyn you could have the watches mounted in a shadow box and hang them on the wall.
There will be serial numbers on the watches if you want to hunt around a bit and date them.
Mounting them in a shadow box frame would be wonderful..must do same witht he watch given to me..also received 2 tree ornaments that had belonged to my grandmother's grandmother, paper thin for sure, you know you've given me a great idea..going to see what else I have of hers and make a shawdowbox collage
I am SO gonna be a 'hurtin unit' tomorrow ... LOL ... ALL good .. a real change from XCountry skiing .. AND .. I only fell twice and all because I kept TALKING, and not WATCHING!!
OK .. call me paranoid .. the Shadow Box frame would be wonderful .. but ..I would HATE to see them 'stolen' .. now .. the chances of that are pretty much NIL .. but .. I am such a worry wart when if comes to heirloom stuff .. on the other hand .. what a perfect way to display wonderful and enduring workmanship .. gonna toss that one around for a bit ..
We are back into the deep freeze overnight. Glad to have the car in the garage .. because .. Lorna goes AGAIN tomorrow to have her prosthetic leg hopefully REFINED to make it easier for her to use .. gosh .. this seems to be taking FOREVER ... so .. we are off and running early in the morning.
Off I go :-)
~M~
Marilynne, I own a frame shop and we do that all the time.My son whois particularly talented has even framed a wedding corsage for a customer years ago. He had to reconstruct the flowers with glue. She still comes in for framing and tells him that it is still holding up.There are special hanging devices used in motels and public places that you can use,It makes it impossible for anyone to steal the item. We usually go and do the installation for customers. Too bad we are too far away to help you out.Perhaps you have a good place in your own city.Don't be afraid to ask. JOY
Betty, Marilyn & Carol - I "almost" resigned lol The Proofreading is now delegated to two friends of mine that will get it right the first time, then "Let Go" and won't insist on a 2nd, 3rd proofreading. I'm much happier working with them, AND I am no longer delivering. I called the newsletter committee and told them I do enough with the assembling and printing. And I get others to do the folding, and delivering!! so There!!
Carol - almost all white with blue eyes? Do you have a pic? I'd love to see it. So glad you're "free" and able to get about on your own. It's much better than relying on others all the time, when you're so used to be independent!
Betty - now you're wishing you hadn't wished for snow, eh? (Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it!!!) And now you have your house back. Same boat as Carol - love to have the house to yourself. I am SO "with" you ladies on that one. I've been told how nice it would be to earn extra $$ by taking in a boarder, but I just couldn't share my home with anyone other than my DH!!
Marilyn - you "hurtin unit" you!! Sounds like something I would do - talk instead of watching LOL Take care, and sit on a doughnut LOL Sorry - shouldn't laugh, but it Does sound a "bit" funny lol
Speaking of "watching" - I used to have a pocket watch of my grandfather's - from about 1890 I think. I took it to a jewelers and they said they couldn't get it running again, and would have to send it to England! A little too expensive for me!!!
Bunny almost looks like my sister Sharon's American Eskimo dogs..too adorable. Looks as though he's made himself at home!
Usually "M" is on-line early in the morning, bet she's got aches and pains and on the chesterfield doing ouch's..lol
Snowing lightly out there, not sure what they are calling for today, missed breakfast television as I was doing a bit more house cleaning...
INVITATION...now that there is hardly a corner not cleaned/organized/purged, now's the time to come and visit for a few days..lol..notice how I specified few days..lol
Joy, when Roger was alive and I was teaching paper tole he and my boys got into making and framing all our pieces, boys had the cutting of mats down pat..an art for sure. How's your weather?
Cindy, Paul's daughter has been off since she's had that terrible 'flu' this past weekend, glad she's staying home, would hate for her to try and come back on the early side before she's A o.k. and pass it on to me..
Sooo nice here, Paul's out of the office as is Suzanne, then Cindy's sick and LeeAnn is off for a court appt. re business so it's just little old me, watching movies, knitting, having coffee..lordy it's a hard job but someone has to do it!
Susan/Susan, NEARLY giving your resignation is nowhere near what you were suppose to do..you were to give it and let others take over for awhile, everyone should have a try at it and that way they'll know all the ups/downs you go through to get it out!
Good morning all
Marilynn looks like you could have a new exercise! The "shoes" are hard work for sure.
Carol what a prettly guy you have there!
Betty, knitting at work, no wonder you get so much done.
Susan I get that Volunteer thing........ I have promised my family that I will sit on my hands and keep my mouth shut at meetings.
We are finally out of the deep freeze. Here is my house yesterday after work.
Scraped some snow off the roof Monday night and we are happy we did it before it warmed up. OMGosh what a lot of snow we have, roads are crazy and drivers are worse! Anyway much better than having water or mud for sure and this is Alberta after all.
First may I say I absolutely LOVE your home..now that's a lot of snow on the roof, guess newer homes are built to take the snow load..think I'd opt out for the rain and mud!!!
Yikes, be careful out there on the roads..
Thanks Betty
I have an older home that has been renovated. But that is lot of snow for sure.
Ann
You mean that's the older home you renovated..omg it's absolutely inviting
G R O A N!!!!!!!
Here I am .. I can type LoL
Had a super time yesterday .. but .. I have tender thighs today ..but .. it was also Lorna's BIG DAY ..so .. suck it up Buttercup ^_^
Lorna now has a state of the art prosthetic leg .. well .. half .. the upper protion is still being 'cooked' LoL
BUT .. she has her new $5000. knee/lower leg .. I'll ask her if I can take a pic to show y'all.
Ann .. LOTSA snow there .. and I am SO happy you are promising to 'sit on your hands' as opposed to firing a hand up and saying YES YES YES to volunteering .. always seems like a GREAT idea until the WORK begins !!
Joy .. thanks so much for the shadow box info .. who knows .. perhaps it IS time to get these beautiful pieces of time keeping OUT of my cedar chest ..
Carol .. BUNNY is amazing .. would LOVE to just hug him .. and the 'bed/mat' he is on is wonderful!! Any idea where it came from ?
Betty .. enjoy your UNbusy day at work .. you deserve the respite ..
Bought Chinese Food for supper .. a real treat .. and NOT M&Ms .. kinda like the Mandarin I guess .. smells wonderful ..
Take care all
~M~
Betty
I'm Blushing......Thank you.
We added 10ft on the front about 6 yrs ago and did the great room/kitchen thing. We tried to keep it fitting with the older neighborhood look. We loved the area and our big yard so instead of moving we reno'd.
Ann
"M" omg that's a lot of money isn't it?? sure hope that some type of insurance coverage helps..was talking to Ann last night when she came over for t.v. bingo, Mike wants to travel, perhaps for a last time, they've decided it can only be in Canada...was telling her that my insurance agent when I purchase insurance for USA told me that many Canadians don't think of getting it when travelling Canada and that many provinces only cover certain things and you can end up with a mega bill if you end up in the hospital..anyone know of differences???
glad you are not aching any more than you are..Cathy who comes over and let's the furries out went snowshoeing on Saturday in all that snow, she's very fit, no vehicle, always riding bikes/walking etc. and said she had aches where she never thought she could have some...
Ann, I'd say you made the right choice! Most believe moving is the answer when all they need to do is add a room or re-vamp the design.
Carol - your new rescue is adorable!! blue eyes?
Ann - love the house! It's all brick? You sure do have a lot of snow!
No more delivering of Church newsletters, and no more Social Committee for me! (well, maybe a bit of bringing stuff, and helping out, but I can't do the Meetings!!)
The aches and pains are fading .. and .. I did enjoy the experience .. do believe I'll do it again soon .. well .. as soon as it WARMS up .. jeeze it's -33C here this morning .. the trees are cracking and the snow is VERY crunchy under foot.
Lorna IS covered by insurance with the prosthesis .. otherwise, who could possibly afford them .. it is UNREAL .. have found as the years in the medical field whizz by .. that OVER CHARGING is a fact of life .. in fact, it's BIG business .. I have seen companies, UNFLINCHINGLY, tell clients that the cushion for their wheelchair (special as it is)will cost in excess of $500. !!!! The medical Insurance thing is a racket .. but .. without it we'd be in dire straights.
When Lorna was in Manitoba having her surgeries .. the medical staff kept thinking she was FROM Manitoba, as soon as we corrected them and told them she was from Ontario, it was as if we had said she was from MARS LoL .. that said .. there was NO extra cost and no bills followed us home ..
I have a special VISA card that includes medical coverage out of Province .. BUT .. because I am a pessimist .. I still buy insurance from my Credit Union .. so far it's never been much more than $18. for a week, and I am covered to the hilt were 'something' to happen.
HUGE decision making time here re the THIRD dog .. as the dust settles from my decision .. and the excitement level dwindles a bit, I find myself 'second guessing' myself.
The last few days I have had my hands OVERFULL of 'impish' Piper .. chasing him, crawling around trying to get at items he has deposited under beds etc .. I really think I should give this a year at least. Piper is just 8 months old ..
So .. as people awaken, I will express my concerns.
As well .. Lorna;s Mom hasn't been feeling well .. if we were to HAVE to travel east .. well .. I'd be frantic about leaving a new puppy home ..
So .. haircut day today .. for Lorna .. i have an appt next week .. right now .. if someone were to wash their hair and go stand outside for 1 minute with it wet .. it'd likely SNAP OFF !!! KIDDING.

NO haircut !! Flipping well -41F .. takes your breath away fer sure !!
So .. laundry and baking and .. PICS ^_^
Sharing 2 pics of Lorna's new 'KNEE' .. the upper part of the whole prosthesis is in the process of being re vamped .. we are all SO hoping for a nice 'workable' limb .. this new knee is all hydraulic .. moves WITH her .. she does not have to forcibly move it .. a great advancement :-)
