LOL !!!
In the end, some of us are weaving baskets (within padded walls), and eventually we all kick the bucket.
But poitics marches on...
Beating the Winter Blues & Cabin Fever...# 2
Ain't that the truth!!
I thought that was in the deli line!
Strange that we were once worried about communist takeovers and now we worry about extreme muslim groups taking over! Who's next?
Amazon women - can't wait.
Now your talken about my gang.
Yup, us homey girls lookin' to solidify.
I have always been tall for my age and am of German extraction.
I was made to feel odd because I wasnt petite and stringy.
On the otherhand I was chosen for sports teams and put where they needed a strong girl.
I was always self concious. When I went to Germany and Munich especially I saw elegant amazonian women for the most part and felt I had come home to my own.
I traveled to Mexico in 1972. The guid named me "la Vikenga" the viking woman.
Not far from Amazon's I think.
I am sort of short, but reasonable strong in both physical strength and in my opinions. I worry, lament and rant against any extreme political or religious zealots, no matter where they come from. I often, sadly, fear some of the people in this country more than those abroad. I would join up with the amazon women too if they wanted to rule the world peacefully, secularly, respectfully, and fairly, but I would need stilts to fit in. I doubt that the minority gender is ever going to let that happen. I can't wait to see what becomes politically with all those protesting women in Egypt. Is there a Cleopatra among them? Patti
While I dont get into political stuff. I think it will not be in our lifetime to see any female in office anywhere.
Of course the Amazonites would rule peacefully and with awareness and respect.
Erda was an Earth Goddess mother of Thor etc.http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Erda
How appropriate for gardeners. Maybe we can call ourselves something else less threatening than Amazons.
We dont want to scare the men.We need them.

Huh??? There are women heads of state, Jo! There are many women governors now. And many legislators.
There are crazies in this country, but they don't compare to some of the real crazies abroad. And there are secular zealots too.
Anyway, back to the topic of the thread! Here is my fragrant tangerine.
Nice! I can almost smell it....or it might be the cranberry-orange zest muffin I just ate :)
That's cheating, Celeste!
No, im tricking my senses...looking at your flower and tasting the zest in the muffin is playing havoc on my already screwed up cabin fever head. ^_^
Nice center attraction on the Tangerine blossom. Could be a sculpture if it was X 50.
HINT LOL
Ahhhh, cranberry orange-zest muffins.........mmmmm.
If you get too cabin feverish, you can do one of these.......I am almost finished with my birdbath. It started out being just like the center section that is left natural, all over. I just took these shots before I touched up the paint and clear-coated it. The only thing left to do now is to seal it so I can let the birdies swim around in it. Still learning how to do it, but it sure is a soothing pastime.
Really nice Louise. I want to make one now. Are you going to bring it north when you come.?
Hpw gooey is the construction part? Looks great when finished.
Wow, love it, Louise! Your birds will be pampered. Deb, the $60 is for 2 dogs a night....I think they charge more for larger dogs, plus Robs needs a special diet plus meds....the kennel is wonderful, however, & they can handle Robs, which is in itself worth the bucks! Jo, I wish I was much taller....always felt like a shrimp.....my older granddaughter will be tall, but Anni will be a peanut....I feel sorry for her!
very nice louise!!
Thanks, Guys! JoAnn - no, it is much too heavy to bring it north. I may make another one at the farm though - possibly for my son's birthday for his patio.
Lucy - no, the thin-set wasn't too bad, although I do enjoy using the pre-mixed mastic that works well for "indoor" projects better. Because of the water permeation, you have to use the thin-set for the birdbaths. I will use much less of the thin-set next time. I had too much sliding down into the bottom part from the top. As to the trays & mirrors, I can do those inside because there's not nearly as much mess. The grout stage is the messiest part. I find the design part of the process to be really fun....there's no limit, and it is easy to find inexpensive materials - like nice pieces of china - to use for the mosaic pieces at yard sales or thrift shops. All in all, this is a pretty inexpensive hobby, because I use the chipped pieces of the china I already have for most things. The little glass "buttons" or "marbles" are very inexpensive if you look for them in the right places. Since I do the terra cotta painting already, I have plenty of the paints on hand already. Now, how will I get all of my marbles up to NH? LOL
Very pretty Louise
Thank you, Jen! Anyone can do it! But it helps to be retired. LOL
It's very nice, of course the birds will poop all over it, but it's very nice indeed! Good Job! ☺
Funny what birds will do, WC.
Lovely Louise!
Very nice, Louise! You can rent it out for baptisms! ^_^
Clever, and patient lady. Love the sand dollar in the bottom. If you do one for NH you will have to put a bear claw or moose print in the bottom. But don't forget to get a heater for it ! I am just reminding you of what you have left behind. NYC has had snow on the ground, continuously since Dec 26. Nantucket has had almost none, but here in Vt we have as much on the ground as I remember over the last 15 years. I am sure they have had more, but I am a newbie.
I loved checking out the Fort Meyer paper on Truck arrival Day. Go BoSox. Patti
Any small triumpth is worth it.
Don't know if I mentioned this before, but I have been keeping myself very busy labeling and organizing my digital pics of all my daylilies from last year. I still have ones from 2009 that need to be done, too. I literally have thousands of pics! I have also been continuing to update my daylily list and coming up with names that have not been taken yet for future daylily registrations. Yesterday I sowed 2 trays, 36 cells each, with daylily seeds from crosses I made this past summer. I have 2 more trays to do, which I'll do today. I will be getting more of them. They were I think $6.99 at Home Depot, made by Burpee. Each tray comes with a water tray and a plastic sheet to put on top until the seeds germinate. Each cell in the trays has it's own little compressed coir pellet. Looks like I got it cheaper than what Burpee actually sells if for. http://www.burpee.com/seed-starting/grow-kits/eco-friendly-greenhouse-kit-prod001228.html?catId=2211&trail=
Nice tangerine flower, Victor. While I can't smell it, I swear last night, while watching tv, there was someone drinking wine, and I could smell that. Funny.
Gorgeous birdbath, Louise! I love it! Fun stuff!
Karen
Karen, you have really tackled a big job! Hope your seedlings do well.....
Leave it to you, WC, to point out the risk here! :) I had to buy a special poop proof sealer so it will clean up okay, in fact. LOL
Now, there's a thought, Victor!! It's a bit heavy to be lugging around though.
Thanks, Celeste, Patti and Karen! It really was fun to do.
Look, Look!! (closely)....my Meyer Lemon tree is filled with blooms.....for next year's crop.
Yay! for the blooming Meyer Lemon tree!
Thanks, Marilyn!
Karen
Nice, Louise!
:) Fresh-squeezed lemonade tomorrow when our friends from Conn. arrive. :) I took all of the remaining lemons off the tree so it would flower more.
Meyer Lemons are like gold. I can't live without Meyer Lemon EVOO in our pantry. I do have a little tree in our GH. We get only 3 a year as it is still very small. Patti
