Thank you guys, I guess the standing in the cold with patience is paying off

DAILY BIRD PICS VOL. 364
Starting to see more and more Gold Finches, but only females.
Hack
Those could easily be males - they lose the bright yellow plumage in winter ;-)

Nice owl Rose!! That is the down side to not having to walk at night anymore. I would always see them and of course hear them even more often, including the Great Horned Owl. I have seen a couple fly by while out in the yard with Gus before bed time.
I will eventually unload the camera! lol Been busy making cookies today. ^_^
Hey Nanny, jinx on the cookie baking. I was at my Mom's all weekend baking and am home now. So, i just cruised through these posts and can't comment on everything. I DID want to say welcome back to Adelbertcat. We've missed you!
Humm, all those females, some can be males. Didn't know that.

Dellrose - love the owl.
GrannyGrunt - nice Junco. I'm still waiting for them to show up - 1st one I photoed this year was on Jan 3rd. AND that is a nice looking male HOFIN.
Oh, man, dellrose - what a great catch, that Barred Owl.
ducbucln - loved the Cedar Waxwings. According to my records, I should be seeing some in Feb.
nanny_56 - nice Pileated Woodpeckers, I've never seen one. What differs between the male and female, whether or not the red goes to the beak?
Cool, Mrs_Ed - your deicer is working good.

I did it! I finally got a picture of our elusive tufted titmouse, I looked out when I got up and there he was, taunting me, daring me to try to get a shot of him, he was on the ground, the tiki torch and the latticework. But finally got him on the trunk of the tree. Going to try later to get another clearer one of him. But I thought this one was pretty good.
Hack, glad that new suet feeder is a hit. Do you ever see the Pine Siskins with your goldfinches? Great shots.
Nanny, I'm so jealous you're seeing the beautiful Pileated. She sure is beautiful-enjoy her for me! I saw the cute wren too!
Mrs. Ed, love that pond!! You're so thoughtful to use that deicer-it works good. The birds look very happy.
Granny, I have plenty of finches here too. Your guy is cute.
Teddy, congrats on getting your cute little titmouse!
Here's a Yellow-rumped (Audubon's) Warbler.
Wow. Great pictures. Gosh so many of these shots are worthy of framing! That Audubon's Warbler in the apple tree is so beautiful. Gee, just love looking at them. Nanny, you could send some of those Pileated Woodpeckers my way. Trade you a few hundred finch or so for one! LOL
You folks who have the opportunity to see Eagles are sooooooo lucky.
Here is a Junco. Cropped because it was some distance away from me.
Nanny, you could send some of those Pileated Woodpeckers my way. Trade you a few hundred finch or so for one! LOL
mmmm...think I will keep the pileateds, but thanks! lol
Great pics everyone!
Love the Owl Dellrose; is that new for you?
Congratulations Teddy!
Duc, I absolutely love the look of those Nuttall's Woodpeckers!!!
Adel, So good to see you posting! Love the Quail and the Towhee!
Not just great pics but GREAT birds! Love everyone's pictures and such great variety!
Duc, love the Nuttall's Woodpecker and love the apple pictures!
Burd, your eagle pictures amaze me, but seriously get some rest!
Rose, you owl shots floored me. Just wonderful.
Nanny, so jealous that you have a pileated at your feeders!
Adelbertcat, missed those quails!
Hack, great photos, love the finches whatever sex they are. Oh and my wren was not cold. It was about 60 degrees that day. Don't know why he was puffed up. He's been singing a lot lately. Maybe he's ready for spring.
Went to Freeport yesterday and took a lot of terrible photos but got a few good ones too. Here's a super close-up of a lame Sanderling. He was hopping very fast one one leg.
Burd, sorry you're having to work such long hours. Fantastic shots of the juvie eagle! We had an adult and juvie flying past our house yesterday, but the rain was too much for pictures.
Adel, I was just out taking photos of our quail and they look much warmer in our rain than in your snow-tell them they're welcome at their cousins house further south. Great photos! Keep warm and safe!
Granny, cute little junco! Hope you have lots of them like I do, they're such colorful birds.
Welcome back Adel...it is nice to see you back with those gorgeous Calif. birds of yours. Don't be such a stranger!
Gorgeous Eagle shots Burd...hope your work load slows down a bit and you are able to get out and enjoy the birds.
Duc...My gosh that Nuttals' is a gorgeous bird. Love the Warbler in the apple tree...you need to do your own calendar!!
GG...Nice shot of the Junco...ours hardly ever show in the yard for a pic.
Nanny...I wish I could be the Pileated to stop in our yard. We have at least two and they do fly-overs and torment the heck out of us!!
Mrs. Ed...Love the watering hole...looks like the de-icer is working well for you.
Hack...We have lots of Goldfinches her too...I counted at least 120 in the back yard this morning. I would be happy to share!!
Teddy...Your little TT looks cold!
Pelle...The Barred Owl isn't a first but I still get excited whenever I see one.
Wow Elphaba...Congrats on all the new birds. Nice shots of birds I've never seen...need to make a trip to Texas!!
This juvie Northern Flicker landed at the top of the dead tree yesterday.
Wow, Elphaba, congrats on all the new lifers. Your photos are wonderful!
