New to this forum. I have been searching the web for an answer to this question but haven;t really found anything I trust. This must have happened to someone else before. I was overambitious and this fall was sooo mild in the Northeast (zone 5) so I got a couple bushels of daffodils and other bulbs for naturalizing. Well other things came up and I didn't get around to planting them. Then winter swept in suddenly. Now the ground is frozen at least 3" deep. I flirted with the idea of a torch and auger but realistically unless there is a mid-winter warm spell, which has happened here and there the last couple winters, I won't be able to plant until the spring thaw. I don't care if the bulbs even flower next spring. I just want them to survive through winter. I have too many to pot up and keep inside for the winter which I have seen as an option. Is there any other form of storage that is recommended? Cool, dark, less than 50 degrees perhaps? Any advice would be much appreciated. I stand to lose a lot of money and plants. Thanks.
