I tried picking up two Venezuelans, but my wife wouldn't let me.
What's on the menu?
Is she being a spoil-sport again????
No fun at all!
as opposed to her husband, huh?
I like Cubans....a little sandwich shop in Bantam sometimes has them. Today's lunch was pork roast.
Cubans were my Dad's favorite, so I grew up knowing the real ones from the wannabees. lol
I will make Monkey Bread for Xms morning.
The family comes over at noon and we do presents.
I am making bluecheese stuffed dates with toasted walnuts for appetizers.
DD wil make the Morracan Chicken from this months Bob Apetit
They make the best Cuban sandwiches I ever tasted down there. ☺
Chili is cooking
JoAnn do you make monkey bread the hard way( all homemade) or easy way( with Pillsbury as the base)?
I made it yesterday with frozen white bread dough.
Yep thats how I will do mine. I am so beyond cooking certain things from scratch. I just cant be on my feet longenough to peal, shred, chop or what ever it used to take.
I Google reciepes and found the 2 ways Flowajen mentioned. I didnt want the bisquit type.so I bought frozen dough from Wegmans.
My son in law loves stuff like this and as he is so helpfull to me I want to make this special for him and DD and GS +GD.
I've never had Monkey bread, but it does sound good! Made chicken, escarole, & white bean soup for supper.
monkey bread rocks anyway you make it!!!
I'm going to add nuts and raisins so it will be like a tower of cinnamon mini buns.
I knew a girl named Cinnamon and she had very nice buns.
You are so right, WC! Put Cubans in the plus column (Alligators and snakes can sometimes find themselves in the minus column.) Nematodes go into the minus column all the time!
Mmmmmm, JoAnn - that sounds like a great plan! I think it is so nice that you think of your SIL that way.
Marilyn - I like the sound of that soup.
We took an older neighbor out to supper and then to ride around and see the Christmas lights. She had lobster ravioli (all homemade); I had sausage and peppers that were delicious with lots of other veggies in them, and Hank had spaghetti with marinara and awesome meatballs. The Italian owners of this little restaurant are really fun and there was a lot of laughter. Their food was wonderful. As we were riding around looking at lights, we noticed that many homes that usually have a lot of lights had very few this year. The house with the alligators up in the air pulling the sleigh was lit up again. :)
monkey bread is too good :)
I'll send a report 12/26
Sounded like a fun evening, Louise....wonder why there are fewer lights? The soup was good, I'll be dropping some off to a friend today when I go for an afternoon tea & cookies, & gossip session.
Sherrie, you're a trouper! Was sitting in our town's little diner when 2 fire trucks went speeding down Main St.....the guy sitting across from me jumped up & flew out the door....I asked his companion where the fire was & he said the name of my road.....good thing I was about done, threw some money on the table & I flew off, too....was the farmer's house just down the road....chimney fire, & not too much damage....however, I was shaky for awhile!

glad there was not much damage!!
Robin, I can imagine being shaky after hearing the name of your street.
We went to our local Irish pub tonight with some friends....really good food. Had corned beef and cabbage in a boxty http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Irish-Boxty/Detail.aspx
Monkey bread here for breakfast! Merry Christmas everyone!

Oh my goodness Robin, i can see where it would scare the bejeebies out of you!
Merry Christmas to you too, Hallchinalady!! ^_^
Doing better today.....can't think of anything for tonight....the corned beef & boxty sure sounded good! But there will be so much food tomorrow, think I'll stick with soup, or eggs for tonight.
Plans have changed for tonight....am going to a friend's house for a buffet.....Yes, Sherrie, probably creosote....that's why I won't build a fire until I have chimney cleaned....
We have ours cleaned every year.
Glad to hear no damage to your place and will say a prayer for your neighbors.
We heat both house and garage with coal and have no creasote to worry about...it just soots up and falls to the bottom...in the spring we suck it out with the garage sweeper.
Ended up with more than monkey bread for breakfast....daughter put on quite a spread, sausage, bacon, eggs, fried taters, english muffins, and pumpkin pancakes. No lunch today!
Have to do this again tomorrow and Sunday is my turn for the whole family...I'm HOPING NOT to have gained 10 pounds in one week!
Merry Christmas to all.
Love the slacks with the elastic for this time of year!
nothing wrong with cookies for dinner
YUM!
I really prefer the frozen bread dough for this recipe.
The buiskit dough might have been soggy.
Everyone is still in bed.I want to open presents.
Wake them up!! LOL
Bang a few pans together....that ought to do it!!
