I even use my slow cooker for tapioca pudding... and chicken gumbo!!!!
What's on the menu?
Oh my gosh I use my slow cooker all the time... LOVE IT....
pork or kielbasi and sauerkraut, chili, stuffed cabbage, stew, pot roast, swiss steak, sloppy joes, pulled pork or beef, soups, mac and cheese, sausage and peppers....Need I go on????
Had fast premade pot roast, mashed potatoes and corn
Homemade turkey pies with rolls last night......by request of DS.
It seems that many of the same things are done in a pressure cooker. And way faster!
Whenever I hear about pressure cookers I recall fond memories of my mother's split pea soup. She had a big old pressure cooker and that was the only thing she made in it - usually right after Christmas and Easter because we always had ham on those holidays. I also recall the time something happened and the lid of the pressure cooker exploded off and splattered split pea soup all over the kitchen. Split pea is still my favorite soup. :)
I love pea soup too, both the green pea soup and ham and also the yellow pea soup.
I prefer the yellow.
love split pea soup - only green here
Not a fan of pea soup
Yellow split pea here. Your story, Dave, is why I don't have a pressure cooker. Tonight beef & kale soup.
I'm sure someone tried to open it without de-pressurizing.
ravioli and garlic bread
Not a fan of pressure cookers, saw a lady who had an accident when the lid exploded off, - not a pretty sight.
Hamburgers & fries tonight (not hungry tonight, must be the cold weather, lol!)
Meat loaf, green peas and Caesar salad from a kit and doctored up.
I have a crock pot, but haven't mastered it yet. I don't seem to get the meat and veggies to come out right at the same time. If you have to do too many steps to make it come out right, I'd rather just use my cast iron pot. But....as we discussed during the summer, I'm not very confident about cooking on my ceramic top stove with the cast iron pot anymore. It's fine in the oven though. I think you need to give us some lessons, Jen, with your success with all of those meals!!! That's what I was hoping for!
Garden salad, T-bone steaks and homefries.(Been craving the HF!)
Yes - get on YouTube, Jen!
I won't be doing the you tube thing.
When using crock pot make sure veggies go on the bottom, meat will cook too fast if on the bottom.
My mom used the pressure cooker all the time(no accidents) but I think has a totally different flavor than the crock pot. Everything in crock pot comes out so much tastier.
My Mom always used a pressure cooker as well...she couldn't understand my aversion to it...oh, well. Going out to lunch with a friend today, that will be my main meal.
Makes sense because of the time factor. Gives flavors a chance to come out.
Had chicken pot pie for lunch, was going to have soup for dinner, but DIL just called...she's dropping off the crew, & Garret will bring a pizza later.
I am not a big soda person... BUT this cream soda was the best I have ever had!!!!
