Today I am thankful

That my sister and her family are healthy and can be with each other this weekend,

That I have warm clothes, plenty of food, and my own solid roof over my head,

and especially that it has been raining all day! :-)

I am thankful the horses are not roaming the garden any more.

I am thankful DGS has safely arrived from Las Cruces, NM driving his new (to him) 191M miles truck. At 29 he only just got his first license and has never driven more than 10 miles by himself.

I am thankful DH is not so down on Christmas this year AND not depressed AND not angry. Those Christmas's were very difficult.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!!!!!

Thankful today for...

I am not a member here per se, but saw the great topic listed under general discussions and just wanted to say that this is a super topic. What better way to start a person's day than by checking in here and being filled with positive thoughts. A person's attitude is so important in determining how they spend their day. With an attitude of gratitude, one will definitely have a more pleasant day than they would if they allowed the worries of the world to be their focus.

Here is hoping the new year will bring all that any of you can wish for and more.

Looks like the thread is getting long for those on dial-up.

Holler at me when you guys are ready for #2.

No Central, AZ(Zone 7b)

I am thankful that we have at least one tradition for Christmas. One gift bag has been re-used for 14 years for DD. The same tag has been on it and it shows it is for her from the pets, by name. We are running out of room on the tag, as their names stay on it, whether or not they are still in our lives. She gets such joy seeing that bag!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I am thankful we got through Christmas with only one meltdown on the part of DD#1 .... and grateful to have my own malfunctioning nuclear family together at Christmastime.

(Zone 7a)

Today, I'm thankful for a new phrase. "Attitude of gratitude." Thanks, Ruby. ^_^

(Debra) Garland, TX

Thankful to have gotten energetic enough today to get bulbs planted

Thankful for the sunshine today and the expected rain later in the week

Thankful for the dustmop dog who barks at the backdoor to let me know
when I have accidentally closed the middle scruffy spider-legged dog outside

Ozone, AR(Zone 6a)

I am thankful for a big black cat that gave a kitten a bath today after pretending she hated the kittens. I am thankful for 2 dogs that always let me know if something is amiss outside, even if its just a neighbors cat sneakin thru the yard.
I'm thankful my DD came over for Christmas dinner.
Thankful for Christms trees, warm fires, hot mocha and cold ice cream.

Crozet, VA

I am thankful to have found a group that focuses on the positive. Several of you made me laugh and that is a good thing.

Welcome to you Ruby, it is good to see you in another thread. You have always had a positive outlook, that I could see, even in the CRAP thread! (and for those that wonder about that acronym, you can find us in Clean and Clutter Free - fun name)

I am also thankful for all my DG friends as they are my "turn to" buddies when I have a problem.

(Zone 7a)

Today, I am thankful for my friend Mau.

Today, I am thankful for,

HGTV

Roses that will grow at my house. (I've killed a few over the last six years :-))

The comfort of being around dogs both at home AND at work. Office pooch Sweet Pea helps keep me calm and unruffled during the day. She had just gotten in for the morning and was making sure no one had taken any of her toys or chews.

Sweet Pea looks like she is going for the Goth look. Lots of eyeliner. :-)
Today I am thankful my outdoor task turned out to be tending a controlled burn fire. High was in the mid-40's. ~N~

HOw cool to have an 'office dog' to destresss with!

No Central, AZ(Zone 7b)

Great looking dog and neat too, that she keeps her toys picked up!

Crozet, VA

Oh yes, I too love the idea of an office mascot of the furry sort. Looks like she has lots of toys and I agree on how de-stressing being around animals is for us. I know that my dogs over the years have served as wonderful best friends to me. I cannot be in a bad mood for too very long when ever they are around. Even though Veterinarian visits can be costly, an animal is a great source of entertainment and worth every penny we have to spend to keep them healthy. This is coming from someone who put out over $400.00 for one of the dogs last week when he had two small growths removed.

Today I am grateful that we had the $400.00 so we could pay for the procedure. My hubby just received a late Christmas check in the mail, and that too is cause for thanksgiving.

Thankful for new PCA!

Midland City, AL

Today, I am thankful for Papa Jim. He said to celebrate surviving the Christmas insanity yet another year; he was taking us out to lunch. If I were the cynical sort, I might suspect he was trying to avoid leftover holiday fare, especially since he insisted on a Chinese restaurant. No turkey or cranberry sauce in sight.) We had fun checking out the clearance sales after lunch. I found a new winter coat on sale and Mama Kay found a great deal on fragrant tea olives. (Osmanthus fragrans) It was just a fun day. ~N~

I am thankful for:

Danny Kaye

Having to shuffle and slide in my kitchen rather than pick up my feet--or I'll accidentally step on a dog lurking for treats and I am very thankful for my dogs. :-)

I am thankful today that I am over the Urinary Tract Infection and sinus infection that I had a couple of weeks ago. The days that I feel well physically are a real blessing.

I was really looking forward to going to some of the after the holiday sales but the weather here hasn't cooperated and the things that I wanted to buy for next year won't be too costly even paying full price next year. I ran short of name tags and gift bags and had wanted to stock up with deals. I wonder if there will be anything left in the stores on Saturday when I plan to go out?

Ruby

(Zone 7a)

Today, I'm thankful for pineapple candycanes. Mmm...

Midland City, AL

Today I am thankful all the turkey is finally gone and for my canine buddies who finished it off for me. I appreciate that Jung catalog that came in the mail too and, of course, I appreciate being appreciated even if I MIGHT have had alterior motives for buying lunch. :-) (Jim)

(Debra) Garland, TX

I have multiple motives for almost everything I do. Perfectly acceptable to do good things and get something for yourself, too, isn't it? :-)
========================================================
Thankful for the Mute button on the remote.

Thankful that my sister and her family made it through the weekend with everyone intact (not easy to do when BIL is oldest of eight, all eight have kids, those kids have kids, and, in one instance, one of THOSE kids has a kid--aiiiiiiiiii, don't let me be in the same house with them all!).
=========================================================

I am deeply and sincerely and profoundly thankful for the instantaneous and unblenching courage of Jillian Michelle Smith, an Arlington police officer who gave her life in the line of duty yesterday to save an 11-year-old child. There is no higher calling...

And a rookie, too. That doesn't come from training. That comes from the soul.

Ozone, AR(Zone 6a)

I am thankful to have a car that gets me where i want to go.
Thankful for a warm spell and can go for a walk in the woods.
Where does one get pineapple candy canes? Sounds good.
Vickie

(Zone 7a)

One gets pineapple candy canes at Walmart. They came in a package of Lifesaver candy canes we put on the tree for the kids visiting at Christmas. (And for me. ^_^ )

Today, I'm thankful DH didn't work this week, hot coffee, snowplows, snowblowers, snow shovels, ice melt and cats who make me laugh. Miss Isis always runs outside when the door opens and never-mind the consequences!

ROFL!!! She looks indignant. ~N~

No Central, AZ(Zone 7b)

No losing her outside. Our older cat has front feet declawed so we are careful to only keep him indoors. Lately, though I let him 'sneak' outdoors in the AM when it is raining or 20 degrees outside. That way he doesn't think it is a good place to be for long! Dogs always want to chase him back inside as they know it is not his place to be out.

(Zone 7a)

She keeps going to the door hoping it's gone. LOL She does look like I did on purpose, doesn't she. Heh heh heh

Crozet, VA

Thankful to have a daily reminder to be thankful. Oh yeah, pineapple candy canes sound yummy!!! Thankful for each of you.

I am thankful that I took after my dad, who was a gardener and made me realize how eazy is to create beuty around us. He always said "if you plant flowers, do not build tall fences, let everybody enjoy Gods gift to you "
Also I am thankful for " phone calling cards" it makes my talks to my sisters in Novi Sad, Serbia much more enjoyable because I can talk to them longer and we can talk about old times. A picture of my low fence and my garden
