Well, I was going to change my info here, but it seems the web page won't let me. So I am still KC8TBQ. Not much to report here today yet, I did see a junco pecking around, and there was a chickadee on the feeder. They are so cute! Have not seen any more purple finches lately. The sparrows are back, I knew they would when it got colder, and boy did it get colder! The downy wp has been snacking this afternoon, of course he was here yesterday in the rain, getting some suet.
Daily Bird Pics Vol 358
Hi kc, If you hit the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page administration may be able to help you. Some of the selections on your "My Info" page might help too.
I have lots of Junco's here to, it's dark and gloomy out.
I hope everyone had a safe and sane Thanksgiving Day! I ate way too much and am suffering for it today...LOL! It was all worth it though...I think!
The nasty weather arrived yesterday with temps in the low 20's and freezing rain, ice and snow. Today is a cold windy day but the sun is gorgeous. I decided to take some feeder shots from my blind until my fingers began to freeze.
Here is a Junco ground feeding.
irisMA - it ain't the get squirrels eating the spilled seed that I have a problem with, my problem is that they prefer my suet.
ducbucln - wow, your pic of the Dark-eyed Junco is super. I looked in my 2010 bird photo folder and saw that I didn't get any pix of a Junco until mid Jan of '10. I waiting.
nanny_56 - nice shots of the Flicker and R-b Woodpecker. Just yesterday, I went to Lowe's and picked up 2 more of those $5.99 plastic tube feeders. I'm not going to attach a plate to the bottom of them, though. I want seed spillage for my ground feeder birds.
kc8tbq - be sure to let us know your new handle.
Mrs_Ed - you must have the cleanest windows in town. Your shot of the Goldfinch is crystal clear!
dellrose - You are so right, that Purple Finch is absolutely gorgeous. You mentioned you have a blind. Tell me more about it, please (if you can, post a pic of it). I ask because yesterday I bought a KillZone Tent type deer hunting blind that I'm thinking about erecting in my yard - for bird photography.
Bye ya'll, My wife's making me watch football :-)

Wonderful shots Rose! I love the Junco, Titmouse and Purple Finch. I'd like to hear more about the blind too.
Congratulations Mrs Ed!!! Yes they are really cute!
AWE RIGHT, Mrs_Ed - Congrats on the Lifer C. Wren.
Hack
why thanks! Hack, my windows are not that clean. HOWEVER, a few years ago, we got new replacement windows and they are very forgiving on the photography.
Congrats Mrs. Ed...they are a delightful little bird. Have you heard yours sing yet?
Hack...poor you having to watch football!! LOL!
Here is a link to the blind I use. http://www.ameristep.com/blinds/outhouse.html . I've had it for 3 years and even though it is falling apart it still get's the job done!
Yes Mrs. Ed...it is the one I use at the brush pile. Right now the wind has caught it and it's blowing across the back yard!
The Carolina Wren song sounds to me like an announcement of major importance repeated many times quite loudly so that all can hear!!
Here is a Red-bellied female on the dead tree. She later pulled a peanut out of a hole and ate it!!
Thanks for the new thread Rose, so nice to see your feathered friends again.
Congrat on the cute little Wren Mrs Ed.
Lovely photography Duc.
Nanny, how I wish those Flickers would come and be regulars in my yard. And I'd love to see one of those Red-bellied WP.
Lovely series of birds Hack. You sure have a nice variety.
Lily, I saw a feeder like your today and was tempted to get it. Are you please with it?
It is still snowing here, today. This is a Purple finch from the other day.
We use the red pepper suet to keep squrriels away. If you make your own perhaps you could add some pepper.
We seem to have the white breasted nuthatches here, I have never seen the red ones here. You are right about the tufted titmice, they don't like to stay still long enough for me to take a pic. The only way I can do that is get a seed bell and see if it will eat on that, we have not had a bell out there for quite a while because the squirrels chew the wood stick that holds the bell and then they knock it down and eat it. I will see what they are supposed to like and see if it is sunflower seeds and put more in the feeder with the mixed seed. More of the finches are eating at the sock, they are hungry, they don't try to eat the other seeds, I don't know if the bigger birds scare them, or they just don't like anything else but thistleseed. Their bright colors might be gone, but the design on their tails is pretty.
I see everyone has been busy getting some great shots! Dellrose, thanks for starting the new thread! Hope everyone had a nice holiday!
I haven't been able to do much birdwatching lately...I have been on mandatory 7 days a week at work, and it could last quite a while but I will get some shots when I can. I do have a few to share.
Elvis has returned....Red-bellied Woodpecker
