Hi Everyone...here is a link to the previous thread http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1142043/ . Some great looking birds there if you want to take a look back!
Some of you are or will be experiencing some colder weather and our area will be too. Seems the birds go into overdrive and I am anxious to see who drops in for a bite to eat!!
Right now we just have the usual birds this time of year and overcast and cold days so not much picture taking going on. Here is a shot of Red-winged Blackbirds leaving the area that DH planted last spring. The birds are really enjoying the wild feed available! I took this shot from my kitchen window.
Daily Bird Pics Vol 358
Nanny, hope you'll see some pine siskins soon!
Elphaba, fantastic captures of your hawk! Sure must have been exciting to see on your lawn.
Hack, great photos of all your birds. Glad to see your thieves haven't returned for more of your feeders.
Nanny, congrats on the great kingfisher photo!!
Lily, glad all your feathered friends have returned to your feeders. They sure are cute, love that wp!
Rose, thanks for the new thread-gee that last one sure went fast. Love all your pictures, especially that busy platform feeder-great! Love that Myrtle Warbler-it doesn't look much different from our Audubon's.
We woke up to 28 degree weather outside. First time this year we had to crack ice on all the birdbaths. I think our blackbirds were storing up the peanut butter and nuts for the cold front last night-they were fighting for the top of the log.
Rose beautiful start...Thanks for the new thread! That second shot is really cool! lol
duc, you just out do yourself with each post...those blackbirds are awesome!
Rose, it's so good that you're back. Gorgeous start. The leapfrog shot is a cracker.
Beautiful photos, duc.
We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here, but Happy Thanksgiving to all that do.
Great start rose. That Myrtle Warbler was well done.
duc, all your pix were great, but I really liked the R-b Nut-hatch and the Pine Sisken.
Thanks nanny, is that a Yellow-rumped Warbler?
Hack
I have not seen our cardinals lately, strange since they seem to nest next door in the conifers. We have had a feeder which is sort of a basket for the last couple yrs & less spilled seed on the ground. Perhaps that is the reason.
IrisMA, I see as many of my Cardinals feeding on the ground as from my hanging feeders. I kinda like the spilled seed. Heck, sometimes I just throw some on the ground, like I did in some of the above pix.
Hack
Too much spilled seed & we get squirrels. Cardinals are ground feeders, of course, but we sometimes get the hen on the feeder. 2 Mourning doves today. There may be other places that the cardinals are finding food this earlyh in the yr. & no snow.
HAVE A GOOD THANKSGIVING!!!!!!!
Wonderful pics Rose! Love the one of the Goldfinch jumping over the others and the "innocent" Goldfinch. Thanks for starting the new thread!
Beautiful pics Vicki! Love the Nuthatch and the handsome Crow along with the others.
Nice pics and good variety Hack!
Good one VA!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!
Thank you Rose for a nice start, those Redwinged Blackbirds shot is more apparent once I enlarged the thumbnail, love the Goldfinch. Duc, wow seems you've got a head start with the wintery season, 28F. degrees on Thanksgiving! We're predicted to go up to Mid. 70's here, then it will fall to the 40's comes the weekend. Love all your pics. especially the Pine Siskin trying to stay warm. Hack nice ones of the various Sparrows, Cardinals and Wrens. Wild Rose, your pic. is among my fav. The bird is strutting as if there were no care in the world. Thanks Margaret for your wishes, happy Thanksgiving to all. Adel, I'm looking forward to seeing your pics.
Not many birds here today, it is raining again, it has been raining for quite a while. We are supposed to get some flooding too, went out and put some dry Sunflower Seeds on the platform on the tree, but I think the rain has driven even the squirrels inside for now, because there is NO ONE around. Saw a downy woodpecker eating on the suet cake this morning until a sparrow chased him off. We have a lot of sparrows, don't know which ones are which, might get a book on Ohio birds so I can tell the difference. The female flicker was here the other day, she is so pretty and large too! Everybody have a good Turkey day and if you have to travel be careful and God be with you as you go.
Hack, I'd sure love to be photographing those cardinals like you are-they're so colorful. I really love all the different colors on the sparrows. Another great assortment of birds there!
Wild Rose, great shot of the turkey.
Lily, enjoy that warm weather while you can.
The Dark-eyed Juncos are all enjoying the peanut butter log and waiting in line on my branches for a spot to eat.
Very wet here...still raining. I ran to wal-mart and picked up a cheap feeder so there is at least some dry seed out there for them. Have all the woodpeckers including the sapsucker visting. today. Our butcher shop had some fesh made suet so I grabbed a couple of those for the birds. Will wait until it has quit raining to put some out.
Flicker at the birdbath...last week
Enjoy that beautiful weather Lily!
Duc, So glad the Waxwings are around for you. Lovely pics!
Nanny, Beautifiul Flicker!
We had SNOW here for about 45 minutes earlier today. It didn't stick but it looked nice coming down.
I will be changing my name, I had a problem with some privacy issues which I would rather not go into detail about right now. But I love this page and will continue to post to it, just need to change my name.
Nice ones Mrs Ed! Love the female Red-bellied!
