Bouvier des Flanders?

Marilyn, there's a woman in Plymouth who has 2 Irish wolfhounds. They are gorgeous and huge! Someday I would love to have one.

maybe elkhound or something along those lines... it had a funny bark... sounded more like a howl.... or like a normal dog that had a sore throat... maybe it did shed and didn't have dander???.. I know it didn't bother my allergies

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Elkhounds(shorter hair) look very similiar to Keeshonds, both shed

Thomaston, CT

Oh, yes....my DH & I adopted a year old Norwegian elkhound when we got married.....she shed 24/7, & her undercoat blew all over like tumbleweeds! We were coming home from NH on a hot day when our AC conked out...had to open the windows, & all this hair was flying out! Karen, wolfhounds are wonderful, but so short-lived! And because of her size, we had to bathe her outside....we brought her to a groomer in town during the winter.....she had a clawfoot tub in the basement, my DH had to help lift her in.....I'd love another one, but just too large for me now.

Love all the new pics! First time I've seen your crafty dale, Marilyn!

Here's one of our girls in front of a lovely waterfall on our trip recently. :)

Allison - how is Kassia doing with Diamond?

Welcome back Louise!!! How cute! Love the cock of the head :))

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Thanks, Celeste! Nice to be back home, but we sure had a great trip! This photo of the girls was taken at one of our favorite places, Toccoa Falls, in Georgia. The last time we were there we had just lost our precious Molly and we were both grieving. The falls were so beautiful and soothing. This time, we stopped by with our girls to have a different perspective with their youthful, ebullient little puppyness. They loved it. They were unbelievably good travelers the whole 11 days. The days traveling were really long because of all the stops we had to make. We would tell people that we had to stop so often for the pups, but we had to be honest in admitting to each other that age has a way of making you have to stop more often and you just can't blame it on the puppies!! LOL

Ah, Louise you were right near my parents house...in NE GA....(we have a buyer btw) they are awaiting financing

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Thomaston, CT

Ack! No rats....it was bad enough when DS kept mice. No, not watching the Haunted...too scary!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

And this season's episodes have been even spookier than last.

Thomaston, CT

I'm a chicken at heart!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Nice shot of the pups, Louise. That's good that they traveled well for you. All the work you 2 have put into raising them has been paying off.

Allison, you're on facebook? I would love to send you a friend request if you want to D-mail me your email address. That goes for anyone else here who's also on facebook.

Oh, rats, Victor! LOL! Well, I happen to like rats as pets, but that's what happens when you keep the males and females together without neutering/spaying them. Believe it or not, vets will neuter/spay rats.

I catch The Haunted now and then, but have not seen any of the new episodes lately.

Thanks, Karen. I'm not sure I'd choose to go through that first year again, but it's a much easier life in terms of our girls these days. They are a real joy - and very easy now that they have learned to read my mind. LOL

d-mailing now Karen

Anyone watch the dog show?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I couldn't with Wily here... he does not like animals on the TV.... will freak out if one is there

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

DH has gotten Bella to do the same with dogs on TV, she'll be sleeping, and he's calling her, look, there's a dog on TV, go get it.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I used to have a dog that would get all excited when she saw a dog or cat on tv. She would even lick the tv. It was so funny.

Karen

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Wily does not care if it a giraffe, snake, lama, or dog... he will flip out barking... does not want that animal in his house.. if there is a commercial for dog food or whatever and he hears the jingle ... he comes running... when at home with Michele... he runs into the bedroom which is behind the wall with the tv looking for the animal... even the fake gecko freaks him out

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Ha ha ha!!! Love the image!!!!!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

of course SHE doesn't think it's funny... I guess neither would I if it happened all the time

Thomaston, CT

Wow, he's a smartie! My dales Jazz & Skip would look behind the TV....Robs doesn't notice at all. Missed the dog show because I was cooking, then I took my dogs for walks before the company arrived.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

How about on the computer?

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

I saw the very end....the Irish Setter was gorgeous!

This is a pic I took of Osee a couple of weeks ago. He looked so handsome sitting on the steps guarding the phone book, I had to get the camera. This morning my vet told me that he has chronic renal failure and the prognosis is poor. I thought for sure he would be the last animal standing in this house. My only hope is that Osee's prognosis is just as accurate as Dexter's was. Dex was supposed to be gone in the spring of 09, so gotta keep the faith (and paying the vet).

Sorry to hear, Weeze. Crash is showing signs of age these days.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

so sorry Weeze... {{{{{{{{Weeze}}}}}}}}}}

South Hamilton, MA

Sorry to hear about his problem. Hope that he is not in pain.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Oh, so sorry, Weeze! He is so handsome, and I will make him my target wish tomorrow night when we watch the sun set over the river. My wishes have historically led to good things for many, so here's hoping! I wouldn't give up hope, as you say....Dexter is proof that things aren't always as they seem at first. Hugs to you and to Osee!
Louise

Sorry to hear about Osee.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Weeze, very sorry to hear about Osee. I hope the vet is wrong, too. We can always hope. That photo of him is a good one.

My Dad's dog buffy is really showing his age. His arthritis is really bad. He has a lot of trouble getting up and down. Poor guy.

Karen

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Weeze, i'm so sorry about Osee, I just went through that last winter with my Lab Tia. She was 14 and we knew something wasn't quite right when she started missing stairs, and then refused to go out at night to relieve herself. We started taking her out the front door which has a ramp and then made sure her 'paths' were clear for her to wander through the house. She did surprisingly well with this plan, hope you and Osee can figure something out too. ^_^

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Thank you everyone, your good wishes help. I've often said, and still maintain, that the problem with pets is that they don't live long enough.

Iris, although his condition is terminal, there is no pain involved. I wouldn't let him suffer.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Crash has had kidney disease for three years now. He gets the k/d diet.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

My Dad's dog Buffy is in the beginning stages of renal failure, but the vet didn't say he had to go on a special diet other than a senior diet, which switched him to. I get him Nature's Recipe, which is all natural. Patches eats it, too.
