This is my first time trying winter crops. I've wanted to try Giant Red Mustard for some time, and the seeds just arrived.
It's 60's in the days now (in South Alabama z8) with nights in the 40s -- sometimes warmer, and sometimes there's a light frost.
Does anyone know if I should just plant them out or start them inside and harden them off before putting them out?
......... I'm going to have the same questions about Kale, Carrots, Parsley, various lettuces and lettuce mixes, etc.
Any guidance would be appreciated!
Start Giant Red Mustard inside or out for Winter Crop?
I live in southeast Georgia, and I usually direct sow greens (kale and turnips). They do great in the fall and all through the winter.
Sometimes I direct sow lettuce and sometimes I start inside. Usually have more success when I direct sow.
Excellent, Miles. Thanks so much.
I'll be planting tomorrow!
