The yellow flowers are from Utricularia gibba, Bladderwort, a carnivorous aquatic plant that keeps mosquitos from inhabiting ponds.

This is a 'Pink Beaumont', the type found wild in Hawai'i.

Hi Candela,
Soak down the tree fern's trunk every day with water till it looks healthy and is producing new growth.
Soak the trunk any day that is hot and dry.

Metrosieros, thanks for the new thread and those yummy pictures. I have eaten all of my guavas and oranges and have one papaya left.
RacheLF, that is a new Anthurium for me. I was not aware that the blooms on the alocasias had a scent, I will have to give them a sniff the next time mine are blooming.
I took a few pictures of my hanging garden today, this is an Anthurium Regale with an almost perfect leaf.
candela, Great pictures! I have never had a star fruit, I will look for them at the farmers market this weekend.

Joeswife, I hope by now you have everything safe and warm in your basement garden. I had a slight setback and am behind on getting my plants in, but hopefully I will get them in before the first freeze predicted for Thursday night.

Hello everyone, I have to show off my stictocardia, It is happy in the downstairs closet. There is a bud at every leaf. I have strung a wire leading outside the closet to the main room. it is already trailing it. I had to cut this back about 8 ft of it to bring it in. I have tried rooting the stems I cut off, but no luck yet. Now I am hand pollinating the blooms. here is hoping. .

thanks metrosideros. i got the tree fern, plus at least 30 anthuriums,philodendrens, and bromeliads from a friend here on dave's who died 2 years ago. his name here was giancarlo (armando). i am sure if you search any anthurium, philodendren, or bromeliad on daves you will find pictures that he posted. they have a sentimental attachment so i want to make sure i do everything to assure they survive. so my mission today is to repot the plants. most of them are in pretty bad shape but i know he would be happy to know they will be taken care of.

I hope that you have strong doors on that closet, It is a very vigorous vine. The leaves are huge and you can actually watch it grow.lol
Kimarj was kind enough to send me a start last year, which I am truly thankful for. I try to keep it under cntrol with constant pruning. The blooms are awesome and worth the trouble.

candela, How lucky is that to inherit Giancarlo's collection. I do have him in my favorites for id purposes. My favorite plants are Philos and Anthuriums.
I am sure that he is smiling up there, knowing that you will be taking very good care of his plants.
