Best/Worse/What did I learn/chat about our day!Just Gab'n

Baton Rouge, LA

Quote from DebbiesDaisy :
Mary, both of my girls had tears in their eyes after Britt left. They both want a baby so bad....and to think I have 3 daughters, and the chances of any of them having a child are really slim to none....all different issues.

Hmmm, thats something about the book. You googled the titles and nothing? Did you try Barnes and Noble?

gotta run DH to store....

Hey Debbie ! As motherly as you are.... I feel sure your girls are going to be Mothers in some way.....time will tell.....

You have rubbed off on them..... I know... Your entire home is like a village with everyone taking care of everyone... I feel.....

Now I look back... I wish I had had a baby with DH..... it seemed that we had so much difficulties with the 3 kids we had... time passed so quickly and now I'm too old at 45.....MIL was hinting so much last Christmas... don't think she realizes how old I am....

Deb - you High Tech Gal with your Kindle ! (How are you liking that?) My old fashioned self went to the library.... I checked out the 2 books above.... will look for the third author when I've finished these..... those were the 3 authors I wrote down from earlier chats.... I think Dianne and Susan and Laura? Sorry if I'm wrong... I actually texted myself the authors names to save them...

Betty - please don't think we tire of hearing of your obstacles with Dear Mom... I'm sure you all tire of hearing of mine with DDs... but that's what we are here for... Friends are here for friends to vent or tell of "wins" or "losses"..... I really feel for what you are going through... Your Halo is shiny and intact !

Hugs
Mary

Okay....Here goes.... I've seen all of this on here.... LOVE MY BETTY"S BLOG FRIENDS !!!!!

Friends...

They love you, but they are not

your lover.

They care for you, but they are

not from your family.

They are ready to share your

pain, but they are not in your

blood relation.

They are........FRIENDS!

A True friend...

Scolds like a DAD.

Cares like a MOM.

Teases like a SISTER.

Irritates like a BROTHER.

Mary, said perfectly!

My "wonderful at the moment" Dh put the electric blanket on my bed....and I am heading up there to hopefully sleep! We "think" I have been getting to cold at night, muscles tighten up, and thats the soreness I have been feeling for days. I hope it helps.

Sweet dreams everyone....

Tubby, Shirley, Bev & Scotty....hope your all doing well and feeling better.

Bessie....sending hugs. (wink)

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!

What a beautiful Poem!
So very true too...Can't tell you how many times I've been saved from this group.
I Love you all too, you make my days Shine!

Betty, How is the itching? I hope it gone.
OMG, How wonderful for Kyle! He doesn't sound like he would let anything get in the way of school, if anything it will boost him because he's a go getter, like his grandma...Betty, re-read Mary's Poem. We are here to hear about things with your mom or anyone else you want to tell us about. I just hope Mom decides to stay here and works out...What does Jim think about all this?

I am surprised you haven't posted this AM, were you busy in the workshop??
Please give Ann a big hug for us. I am glad she came to work a little. Keeping Mike in thoughts and prayers.

So sweet, Debbie. The baby is beautiful. You never know, whats in God's plans...A baby for your girls might come later, just have to keep hoping and praying...I know of many "miracle" babies.

Maggie, OHHH, I love what you are doing to your Kitchen...Very pretty. OH goodness on the oven door! Geesh so glad your DH wasn't hurt,, or burned.

LOL, on the Bread...oh goodness, reminds my of my first try at the Apple sauce cake! Wow, Home made bread by hand, I love it, tried it once, ROFLOL, well lets just say it was not the thing for me to do~ not a baker.

Hi Linda Kay! How was Todds birthday...OMG, love your ornaments! I made one too. whew, all those pins...

Waiving Hi Dianne!! Are you lost in your book?? Had Jake stack the outside wood pile! Going to get cozy in the evenings.

Hiya Stacey! How are things going with Baby Jonathan? Saw a couple days ago he grew a bit! Thats excellent.

Yesterday, I worked on the inside of house! Decluttered, bagged up clothes and shoes, lol even took them to the red bins! Threw a bunch stuff away, decided not to bother waiting for anyone to say keep or not, I figure if they haven't touched this stuff since I put it there, then they don't need or want it, so out it went. I am pre-paring the house for Christmas decorations, lol...
We haven't been here for Christmas in last 2 years, so only did minimal decorating. This year taking everything out!
Well, plus we are having Thanksgiving, so got to clean...Also, grabbed all the hoodies and winter jackets and got them washed. Hahahah, and actually Put Away the summer jackets!
and another Plus, Steve has decided we should get the carpets cleaned, so sorta have to de-clutter or they won't find the carpet!
Then wouldn't you know, DH and work bud came home extra early, They Cleaned his work van and now I've a garage in my foyer AGAIN, grrrr and sighs.

OK well, I think it's the last good push on the weather. Today, waterproofing my bridge~ a MUST on my list. If I have enough I'll do the picnic table too.

OK, Skittles and my English Muffin is ready....
Yummy, a real treat!!
Join us for coffee and muffin.

Be back in a little bit. Enjoy the morning!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good morning everyone! Busy busy busy today, so I'll check in later!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning,

Here I is....lol...

Last night I so wanted to be ambitious but didn't have any energy left so this morning I got up extra early and started wrapping Christmas pressies, figured if I did a few each day they all might be wrapped by Christmas eve, besides, driving me crazy knowing it's all under my bed...at least if they are wrapped and under a tree it looks 'tidy'.

Been on the telephone for a bit with different friends, Dianne called to see if we could get together this weekend, haven't seen her in awhile, were going to meet up a few weeks ago but her MIL passed away..then Darlene called, I cleaned my workshop us so good that she couldn't find a few things, don't think she should be teaching at my house today, could barely talk due to a cold!

So now I'm free to gab for awhile,

Debbie, love the family photo's, I'm with the others in that you'll always have grandchildren around in some fashion, you have a heart of gold lined with silver, always there to help others..sorry you are in a bit of a slump right now, know you have lots on your plate but remember we're all here for you as you are special to each and every one of us..

Judy, it will be nice having Christmas at home for a change, know you are a family person as well so get those decorations out..there's a few I know you have lol why? because we made them together...how's MIL, feeling better?

Susan, as always, nice gabbing with you, how did your bread turn out..think tonight I'll take my machine out and make a bread for Rose and I..

Mary, sure did enjoy the poem, aren't friends the best, they are hand picked and cherished, all of you are special, do hope you know that!!!

As for the itching, I've thought of everything, I really think it could be poison Ivy, on Friday night I cleaned the front garden bed, picked up leaves, branches etc bare handed, did some burning so who knows, might be that or a week, what I'm taking sure hasn't helped me any..itching like crazy...

Debbie, getting to love the Bessie name..lol

Another itch you are all passing on is the decorating itch..it's been 5 years since my living room/dining room has been painted, thinking of a chance but won't rush into it till I see all of your photo's..maybe IF I'm home during Christmas vacation I could tackle that project.

Warner Robins, GA(Zone 8b)

I'm hoping you'll be at my house sometime around Christmas!!! :)

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, when I was in 7th and 8th grade, my best friends name was Bessie. I so admired her, and loved her naturally curly ringlets in dark chestnut. I laugh because we both had such a crush on Donnie Osmond and Bobby Serman, and her brothers used to tease us to know end. I "recently" hooked up with her again on Classmates. Just enough to say hello....and catch up a bit....so I LOVE the name Bessie!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Judy-Jonathan is doing OK. He is a pretty good baby except for a feeding for 2 a day, then we have some issues. DH and I did a PPV movie last night-Ironman 2 and of course as soon as we started it, Jonathan started crying, so up the stairs I went and I didn't get a chance to go back down and watch the movie.

Mom made him some sleep sacks, burp cloths and bibs this weekend. I have found the side closure bibs are the easiest and best for us, so I got some baby flannel from Joann's for cheap, mom made a bib from each fabric and used the remaining material left from the cut for the burp cloths. She made 3 sleep sacks (his room is a little cool, so we like to put him one at night and after a bath). She had some cute navy material with dragons and knights on it and I bought a green with some farm animals on it and a teal with alligators on it. It was kinda funny-she made them without a pattern, just used my tracing paper to make one. The first one had a neck about the size of a half dollar-LOL-she had to do some finagling to make it big enough;) The second one had a neck so big it will most likely sit at his shoulders!!LOL The 3rd one was just right (kinda like Goldilocks;)

I will have to take pics after Thanksgiving since that is when I will get my camera back.....I have 2 blankets done, and will finish another 2 hopefully today...trying to get them done so I can sit and clip them for ragging and have them all done in time for Xmas pressies...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Well I don't have what I need to work on yet, so I'm on pause for a minute. My great grandmother's name (my mom's dad's mom) was Bessie, and she had 3 sisters Essie, Dessie, and Jessie lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well looks like I'm in good company being called 'Bessie'!

Crissy finding that quite a lot of the older generation families almost named their children with rhymes..cute but must have been a mouthful when calling them...

You have been busy Stacey, sounds as though you and Janice had quite a sewing weekend and Jonathan is the proud bearer of your endeavors.. I find clipping the rag quilts relaxing, here I go pay mega dollars for an accuquilt and dyes to decide sitting and clipping is fun, shaking my head here..don't wrap them up Stacey until you take a photo.

Got my morning call from mom..won't even go there..lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Goodness, you all are so chatty! Love the baby pictures, and the remodeling, new paint! Make sure you post when finished plewase?

Betty, thos ornaments are so easy to make, just lots of 2 &1/2 inch fabric sqaures, and lots of small pins! Some ribbon and your done!
Here is the link for the instructions if anyone is interested.

http://www.make-stuff.com/projects/quiltball.html

Sure hope you girls get a phone call to say your hired!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks LindaKay, going to go check on the link, might be something I can do sitting here instead of crochet

How's your dad doing? Settling in??

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dad is doing well, thanks!
Betty, the instructions call for 16 fabric squares, but it actually take 42 for one ball! Guess it is a typo?

Victoria Harbour, ON

that's a lot of squares but a great way of using up leftovers..would look pretty on a country christmas tree..

DIL has her main tree then has the family tree that all homemade ornaments decorate it, do you all do same?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

This is the first year I have made ornaments, I usually buy all mine, and I change colors all the time, one year it will be all blue, the next year I had red and silver...

Jelly rolls are great for making these, as the jelly rolls are already cut to 2 & 1/2 inches.

Lexington Park, MD

Betty if you do the ball make sure to wear a thimble after awhile those little pins hurt your fingers when you push them in.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Betty, you should go there, I'm curious as to what she had to say this time! Plus it will help get it off of your shoulders.

Victoria Harbour, ON

think my accuquilt cutts 2" and 2 1/2" squares, will check tonight..

My downstairs tree is all silver and I collect specialty pieces for it, upstairs the living room tree, smaller than the downstairs trees has a variety of colors..in the little country cafe I put a mini tree and hang all the ornaments that family members have made, think I might even have a few that I made when I was but a child...I have 2 special bulbs from my grandmother "Bessie" that was given to me a few years ago as a keepsake..she died before I was born, and they came from her mom/dad so they must be about 100 years old..so very thin..don't put them out, should though find some way of including them in my Christmas..

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

g'afternoon, everyone! Internet's been "down" all morning, and it wasn't until I called in and they said our whole park was down that they checked to see why (we weren't part of the city, apparently, that was "down" so they didn't know why) and fixed it within 1/2 hour.
geeeze I miss my "fix" in the am LOL

I'm working on my mom's quilt, and she really didn't piece the squares well so they match up. I've trimmed the outside so it's straight, but I don't think it's "square". I don't have anywhere large enough to lay it all out and check it, so "it will have to do" I'm afraid.

I'd better go and put my chicken in the slow cooker...... It's almost 1pm, and it takes 4 hours.

Haven't heard anything about the job, yet.......

Lexington Park, MD

Ok I have a story to tell.......Went on line to shop for something to make grandson for xmas. Looked everywhere and found an "I Spy Panel" went to buy and had issues with Pay Pal not being linked to credit card. Got upset as I had been shopping on line for 2 hours. Gave up. At the last minute this morning decided to go to fabric shop 45 min. away after dropping DD at work . I walk into shop and ladies say no I spy panel but you can.....I know fuzzy cut my own.So went looking around and saw some little clear bins on top of a shelf. Pulled one down and it is a precut quilt and instructions. Name of the quilt is " CHASE"........ Yup my grandsons name. So I get all excited and the shop owner shows me a reading book that goes with the quilt. JUST A QUILT about a boy and the adventures he goes on with his quilt. HOW COOL IS THAT

Victoria Harbour, ON

That more than cool Laura, how exciting to give Chase something with his name on it..guess you've got it and sewing on it already ..lol picture please..

Susan, nothing worse than being without telephone or computer..glad you are back on-line..sorry about no call re job..drats and more drats..

another 1 1/2 and homeward bound..can't wait..so boring here, I'm about ready to throw this afghan in a bin, tired of making them I guess, tomorrow think I'll do scratch art..

Spoke to Darlene, Mike did come and get my snowblower, ordered the part, said no charge because they think there may have been difficulties with the part so coming special delivery; Mike said the wheel was seized as well so he greased it, guess by weekend I'll have it back and then it can snow if it wants to...but I don't want it to...

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I wasn't without phone (although it's supplied by the same server....)
I'm just now composing yet Another email to find out what's happening re: the job....
I'm kinda "stuck" on what to say without sounding petulant....... Any ideas, anyone?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, I would just ask if they have made a decision yet? Plain and simple!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

My older sister (Alice) said I should just "leave it alone and wait"......
I got the same advice from someone else, too.
Now I'm torn. I suppose the best thing to do is keep quiet.......?!?!?! I suppose if unsure, I should do just that. I've already sent them 2 emails they haven't responded to, so what's to make me think they would answer another..........

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

When I was looking for jobs, I was told to submit my papers, and leave it at that, but then I learned that the companies like to hear from you, that makes them think you really want the job!
But if you have already sent 2 emails, and can't get them on the phone, then maybe just hold out for a bit, and see what happens?
Sure hope you hear something soon.

Lyndonville, NY

I would send them a thank you card, just to say thank you for your time and consideration....I look forward to hearing from you. And leave it at that.

That puts it in a friendly, yet "remember me" bringing your name to the top of their mind.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thanks Sue - will do just that.

Debbie - I've already done that...... So that's why I'm leaving it now...

Lyndonville, NY

Susan, then thats your answer...you did all the proper channels and followed thru....ball is in their court! Won't hurt me to add a prayer in there...thinking good thoughts!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thanks Soooooo Much, Debbie - could use all the good thoughts and prayers you can muster ^_^

Glenview, IL

Fantastic advise!
I would love to chat, butte! I am one tired being.

Thoughts, prayers and Arm Wraps to all,
Good Night.

Big smiles, see you on the Morrow!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all, got home, tired but knew Ann would be coming over to play t.v. bingo so sat and did some Christmas wrapping, lordy I feel good about not having anything under my bed, well perhaps just a dust bunny or two..

We didn't win, closest we came to the jackpot was 3 numbers but we did manage to have a nice chat; Rose joined in and we got talking about Christmas, traditions, my childhood christmas's and Ann's, as for Rose, she's an only child and all of her family are in China except for mom and dad so Christmas she says doesn't have the same meaning.

Ann warned her that what she sees in my home won't be the normal, lol..wasn't quite sure what that meant but then she went on to say that I think I'm Santa and if not Santa then Mrs. Santa for sure...

Tummy is saying it's hungry, gee whiz, forgot to have supper so think I'll have cereal and call it a night..

Feel good about what I've accomplished tonight, another night like the same and I'll be on easy street, just need ribbon, bows and name tags to replace the paper names I added to the box and I can cross off wrapping from my Christmas 'to do's'

I so want to be able to just put my feet up and enjoy the weeks before Christmas without worrying and scurrying around like a chicken with my head cut off..last few years I promised myself I'd not have to do it, perhaps this year will be the year!

Calling it a night

Will include you all in my prayers tonight, may good health be around the corner for all and may calls come tomorrow telling some they start on Monday..

Good Lord willing, we'll gab tomorrow

Wink, Goodnight

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I'm heading off to sleep in a bit - watching "the incredible Mr. Limpet" - it's funny!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Morning!!

Betty-I will surely take pics of everything once I get my camera back at Thanksgiving-had left it at a bakery in St. Louis and SIL is bringing it with her when she comes up next week.

Susan-You have done everything you should as far as communication goes for the job. Anything further will not show in your favor...I have been on their end and know what is nice and what becomes just too much....hang in there-I will keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning Stacey, lordy you are up early..look forward to the photo's..

It rained heavily all last night and continues to do so, guess I'll leave about 15 minutes earlier than usual and take my time. With temps dropping you never know when you can hit a piece of ice..

Gab later
