Well, right under the message box where you just typed your reply there is the "image" space with browse in a box to select your pic from you picture files, just like you did when you started a new thread.

hm, yes, but when I tried to select a second photo, it replaced the first with that one, so that's when I thought there was a limit...although THAT didn't make any sense, considering the nature of the forum. Maybe it was storing the first and I didn't know. I'll get it right next time!

The trick is you have to reply to your original post, and each time you post a reply, you can upload another picture. Sounds like what you were trying to do was upload a 2nd picture in your original post, and in that case if you select a different one then it will just replace the original. But if you send your post, then reply to yourself with a new post, you can put another picture in the new post.
