Happy Belated Holidays Everyone!

I worked New Years Eve and New Years Day and the next day too. No rest for the wicked I guess.

I have to download my pictures from my camera later tonight, We are heading out to eat soon, but we have double trouble going on here.
Does everyone remember my Voodoo Lily that blossomed for the first time last year in the winter? Or rather my son's Voodoo Lily? The pretty one that stinks?
We have TWO that are going to blossom here this winter........
I have to remember to try the trick of putting a plastic bag over then if the smell is too bad, and with two of them it could be bad!!!

Delhi, LA

Same to you Kassy. Hope you had some good Hollidays.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Hi Kassy and JIm. Hope the holidays were good for you! I remember the voodoo lily, keep us informed!

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Hi Jim and Smiley,

This voodoo lily bulb was going to make a trip to Florida this spring I thought, to a new home, until I dug it out of it's pot and saw how big it had gotten. I was afraid it might blossom this winter, and sure enough, it has started to grow.

And here is double trouble.

The one that is starting to grow and still in the pot is the older of the 2.
The one sitting in the pot at the top of the picture is the younger one. Goes to prove that you can't go by age as to when they will bloom.

Double trouble! Can you refresh my memory ~ what do they smell like? Is it that bad?

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

I hope they don't smell to bad...you may have to move back in with the kids for the winter.

Hi Smiley and JJ,
Yes, it's that bad Smiley. Here is the post that I had on it last year to get an ID on the name of the plant for sure........... http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1073774/
I just added to that post with the new picture of double trouble.
They have a bad smell because they attract flies to pollinate them. Someone forgot to tell them they need to bloom during the summer here then.......LOL
I get way more baby bulbs off them then I need, so I don't need to get any seeds off them.

JJ, we have a laundry room that's closed off from the rest of the house. That's where they will end up staying during their blossoming time. I just can't promise to do much laundry during that time...........LOL
We have to watch what plants we have in the house anyway where the cats are. We have one that thinks that anything that is green can be eaten!
My holiday cactus has to be in the laundry room too. I brought it in for a short time and she tired to eat it!!! (not one of my cats either, mine don't seem to go after plants).

That's pretty.
Good you have somewhere to stick the stinky things, not much fun if ya can't enjoy the plants when they are at their prettiest. I'll vote for doing no laundry.....

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Just for the record, they tend to smell like rotting meat, fly pollinators ya know....grin The degree of stench depends on the plant.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

eeewwww

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

LOL, yes Jean is right. And the person who told me to spray them with water last year to help with the smell, well that didn't work! I guess ours had that higher degree of stench. That's why I called them double trouble this year.

And here is a picture of someone trying to open her presents.

And this is why she wanted to help open them. Yup, everything goes in the mouth now, or she tries to put everything in the mouth.

But she was enjoying her toy. She kept trying to take that lady bug off the top of it......LOL

And she is starting to sit up. Still needs someone there, just in case, but she is getting better at it.

Aww how sweet.....she is getting big. She will be crawling before ya know it.
What a cutie

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

She is such a sweetie Kassy. I love the "Hello world" expression little ones have.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Before you know it her and Ava will be friending each other on facebook, talking about their crazy grandma's.

(( LOL ))

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Hiya Moon! Where's that waving smilie??

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hi Smiley....ya have to imagine it...grin

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

LOL Smiley
I have a feeling my son will keep a close eye on what she does on the computer. Although she seems to be learning it some now already. He games on the computer, and she will sit on his lap and watch the game.
GREAT, he is teaching her fighting games....................LOL

Yea, I know she will be crawling before we know it...... Poor Dusty! Dusty is my mom's dog. He has been with us since we took care of mom. After mom passed away, he just moved with us. I couldn't move him up here with 5 cats as he has congestive heart failure. I don't think he could have handled all these cats. He was fine with my 3, but the BF's 2 are younger cats. My cats have a hard enough time handling them!
Anyway, the kids said Kirstie is starting to reach for things, and when Dusty has walked by, she has reached for him. I feel bad for him when she starts to crawl :(
At least these cats will hide when she comes to visit if she starts chasing them. And she did try reaching for a tail when it went by near her, but she wasn't fast enough yet.

Babies absolutely befuddle cats. But here, the dogs think babies are part of the pack and great playmates.

Ava is sitting up

Oh how cute. Now the fun begins. Catch me Grandma!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

And she is off and "running".....now everyone can ask that all important question "Where's Ava?" GRIN

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Awwww, Cute JJ.

And I like those, as they call them around here, farmer overalls. I just picked up a pair of little jeans for Kirstie on sale today.

Got an e-mail from my son and they said they got her a Jumparoo? I have never seen one, but they have them at the daycare she is in, and they said she loves them. She was outgrowing her bouncing seat so they decided to get one for her. He said she loves it and loves to bounce.

Oh, and remember my double trouble here???
Well lets make that triple trouble.......UGH
This could be really interesting if all three of them blossom at the same time!!!!
Maybe I need to post one on ebay and get one out of the house before they all grow up.....hmmmm
