I have some fresh hardwood mulch (14 yds) delivered to my home. Can I use this mulch now around the yard or do I have to wait for it to age somewhat? I want to use it around established plants.
Fresh hardwood mulch
You can use it now, just remember to use it sparingly. Don't add more than an inch or two around established plants (to avoid suffocating the roots) and make sure the mulch doesn't rest against the stems of any plant (to avoid stem rot).

Agree, but the exception is roses, which need to be mulched about 6 inches in colder climates to get them through the winter. But, wait until the first frost so you don't get critters digging around and making a home in the mulch.
