I bought a Jingle Bell sweet pepper plant this year and it did really well. I believe it is a hybrid. Are the seeds worth saving?
Seed from hybrid sweet peppers
As long asyou are not concerned about purity of variety. The off spring will be predominantly mutts not purebreds, but they should germinate and grow ok, if you allowed the fruit to mature. Jingle Bell is 1 1992 introduction which means it is a recent hybrid. Many of these are crosses with inbred breeding lines, so that the F2 generation is not obviously different than the F1.
I just can't resist saving those seeds! Yes, I saved seeds from the red ones, fully mature. The Jingle Bell bore heavily with little care. It will be interesting to see how the "mutts" do. Interesting; thankyou Farmerdill :)
