Another good one - wintersowing rose seeds - http://www.wintersown.org/wseo1/Roses.html . Personally, I find wintersowing easiest and most fool-proof for germinating many kinds of flowers, since there's no damping off of seedlings among other things.

i was going to ask about roses too... whats the deal with buying seeds online? i have found this site http://www.twenga.com/ but i dont know if its a good idea... do i need to buy online from a specific gardening site? or will any site do? what are the risks of buying seeds online? if any?

It's always a good idea to look vendors up in the Garden Watchdog http://davesgarden.com/products/gwd/ before you buy--if they have a good rating there then you're pretty safe, otherwise it's anyone's guess. I'd take risks with an unknown site on seeds before I would do it with plants--with seeds your cost is relatively low to begin with, and shipping won't typically damage them as it can with plants. The biggest risk with seeds is that they won't be for the plant you think you're getting, but if it's a plant you really want seeds from and you can't find them with a vendor that has a good rating in the Watchdog, then sometime's it's worth taking a chance. The site you linked to looks like it's just a collection of links to things being sold on other sites, so you'd have to look at exactly who is selling the seeds you're looking at and see if you can find feedback on them

thank you, i didnt realise there was a watchdog for this type of thing, what a good idea. youre right actually, ive just noticed that its not the site itself that sells, could be more hassle than its worth, il have a little look and see if i can et what im after from an approved site...
