Cosmos seeds?

Thousand Oaks, CA(Zone 10a)

Was given a dead Cosmos plant. Can I get seeds from the dead flowers. If so, then do I dry them or what? It appears that the part where the petals came off have seeds. Betcha can't guess I a newbie!

If the plant is already dead, it should be kinda "crunchy" for lack of a technical term ☺ So you should be able to pull the seeds.

Here's a pic of the cosmos parts

that is exactly how i gauge them. crunchy are done, squishy needs more drying time
