Tennessee Cheese Peppers

Valdosta, GA(Zone 8b)

In the spring, I am hoping to grow Tennessee Cheese Peppers, and can find very little online about anyone with experience growing them. Has anyone grown this? Any good advice for this particular plant? I've never had much luck with growing bell peppers, but I've done well with several types of hot peppers (Tabasco, Serrano, Fluorescent Purple, and Bhut Jolokia). I saw on one site that this type of pepper does well in cooler weather. Is this true? If so, I plan on starting the seeds pretty early, since it gets really hot here in the summer. Any assistance is appreciated.

Never have grown Tennessee Cheese, but it is a pimento type, which for me has been one of the more difficult peppers to grow. I can grow bells ok, but have to be selective of varieties as some varieties are just too difficult. For me I get bells early and late, very little production in the summer. Just picked a peck of bells, ahead of the projected freeze warning for Saturday. They like September and October and I have harvested as late as December 19. Freeze warning is very early this year.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only person down here with bell problems. I have a couple of small aerogardens and have started two pods worth of seeds for the Tennessee Cheese, in the hopes that the spring will be a good time to hit it for a good harvest. I find that tomatoes that can set fruit in spring, survive the heat of the summer without producing, wi llcome back in the fall. I hope this will do the same since I am starting so early. Hopefully, we'll get some germination.
