Hello everyone else, I just got in, we had a night at the races, tommorrow is the second day, so my DH, I & a friend of ours all go together, it only 2 days of the year
we had fun, but now I am getting tired
Debra I did get your Box, I am glad you got the one I sent you, Debra Krogers Walmart & a few other grocery stores have it, it's press & seal, you can use it, if you lose a lid too your plastic Bowls, it holds the food in really great, a good thing too have for sending clippings

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Okay thanks for the info, will get some this weekend, never heard of it.. I am glad you had a good time at the races.

Hamilton, OH

Debra
I sure had a better day at the Races today, there was a major upset in the last race, the little filly that was 19 wins, 0 losses, got beat, I had a ticket on the horse that beat her, something just told me there's not any horses that are unbeatable, they all have bad days
anyway it's over now, there are 4 big races that we go to every year, thats the triple crown, then the Breeders cup

Elizabeth

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Well, I am glad you went and had a better day..
we have a couple blooms here next to me.. hubby says all this has to be moved Thanksgiving day, I hope he fels like doing some extra work, cuz I won't..
I havn't cut her down yet, was waiting on these last two blooms..

She did not win but she came back from dead last and placed second, you just got to love her spirit. She was the all time winning filly.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

what is her name? my cousins in oklahoma have horses they breed and race.

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

Zenyatta is her name and I would like to know what her first foal will bring. She has never been breed but will be soon.

Debra

Ken
did you get too see the Race? it was amazing, Mike Smith, took the blame for not bringing her out sooner, That was her last Race, I was so hoping she went
out 20-0, she is a Super Horse, her Foals should be a KY Derby contenders, we haven't had a Triple Crown winner in so long, BTW it's so good too see you post

I am? ut oh.. well if you have a NOL, that would be good, I have had my first casualty of the year.. again. what is it with that NOL anyways? Course, if I had unplugged the drainage holes that would have been a good thing. Going to inspect every dang blasted pot this weekend, and no brug gets water until I do. ugh. *sniff*
and hey Ken, that is okay, I can buy some from you, too! doubling of kinds are okay with me, I can make sure to keep one going any way.. *sigh*

Good morning everyone.Elizabeth, your plumeria is sooo pretty.Haven't tried those yet, but one of these days. There's just soo many wonderful plants out there. We haven't had any snow flurries yet, and like you said this week is gonna be wonderfully mild .
I will be mailing out boxes on Sat to Debra, and Charleen.Retta, if you want some more brug cuttings, I have lots. I can send them to you , for postage. If you're interested, just d-mail me. Your spaces are looking great. You should feel right at home here...you're just like the reast of us..lol
Still working on the garage and now, we're getting the plastic up on the plant room windows.I think it is gonna help a lot.At least I hope it does.It is so clear that you would never know it was there, unless you were looking for it. I like that because I need that sunshine in the winter..lol
I think I am going to take more of my tropicals to the basement, and let them go dormant for the winter, to make room, for more brug cuttings and seed starting. I was going to start seeds in the basement this year, but I just love puttering with them and watching them grow, and the plant room will be the best spot for that since it is warmer. And, besides, I need more room for succulents..lol How's come no matter how much room we all have for plants, we always need more room.We must all be addicts, for sure..lol

You should see my little gh, it is not big enough,.Got to go in there and tidy it up too. Did a little today. It is warm in there too. Only thing I don't like is the Zipper door. but other than that it's great. I am so happy I got it.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

great pics everyone. Retta your cuttings look okay, just don't over water them like I do and you will have nice plants soon. Dee, been moving plants from the garage into the basement. I keep finding things I forgot about.
Charleen that is great you have a friend with the LBG.
Elizabeth, that is a beautiful bloom.
I am having fun experimenting with the tip cuttings. the ones in the vermiculite have the best root systems. They are small and so the plastic water bottle tops upside down seem to be doing better. as the roots draw down to the cap opening, I will place the "funnell" into a bigger pot. Take the cap off so the roots can go into the pot deeper thru winter.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

so far, I have tip cuttings in vermiculite, moss, moss and soil mix, soil and perlite mix, and water that is changed every day. fun fun.

I am sooo excited!! nearly all of the cuttings that I have received are getting those white nubbies. I just left the paper towels loosely around them and put em all in water with h2o2. I can't believe how fast the white 'nubies' have appeared. Do you think the paper towel acted as a type of medium that the roots could hold onto?? so now do I do the TP cardboard rolls with perlite or vermiculite, in the center of a pit with potting soil. If they all root, I'm gonna have Brugs out the wazoo and planter all around the periphery of my yard, front and back.
Wahoo, I sure an one excited Brug addict and doing the happy dance big time!!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Sheri Congrats , the joy of rooting cuttings in winter is unbelievable. I have had brugs actually root in paper towels, just have to be careful with them.
don't laff, but this is a window in the pink room that I use for cuttings, and it is OLD, so I have to find things that will sit on the ledge..

this cherub lost its meat in the top, but has a nice root system I can watch thru the plastic.

Oh my goodness, there seem to be a gazillion ways to root/ plant these nubby babies. Please explain your plastic bottle top method. also- is it perlite or vermiculite that I want to put next to the nubbies in the TP rolls??

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

vermiculite seems to give me the best rooting systems here.. everyone has their own methods, I am trying them all. I just don't water the vermiculite very much. here is the vermiculite method in one week..
