Tomato Leaf curling

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

All my tomato plants are curling and turning yellow.. what is the problem? What is the solution?

Have you noticed any webbing on the leaves?

FYI, elvinap, my tomatoes have a lot of curly fern-like stuff going on, and some yellowing as well. And yet I think they look different from whatever is going on with yours. Kind of interesting, since we're both in San Antonio, both with curling leaves. Similar problems but also a little different, IMO. I already posted my pic over on the "tomatoes - flower but no fruit" thread this morning, but I will post it here too, just for comparison sake.

LiseP do you have any flowers or fruit on your tomatoes? I can't tell from the picture.

Yes, I've got fruit on the lower (unaffected) branches, and I have flowers (but no fruit so far) on the curly branches.

I read somewhere that one shouldn't plant tomatoes where potatoes were just harvested because they are from the same family. Makes sense that I shouldn't have planted tomatoes in the same place as last season....

elvinap-that may not be the problem. Yes, they are from the same family "nightshade" but what you are discribing could be many things. Are the leaves mottled looking and do they look "dry". Do the leaves have webbing or dry patches?

There are no webs, the roots are under-developed, leaves are not dry, just crinkled and small. The blooms are shrivelled.. no tomatoes..

elvin-you may want to try the tomato forum also. I've seen it but never knew what it was. I have an on going problem with mites. I used to think I was dealing only with Spider Mites (SM), which can leave webbing but not always. I now realize that Russet Mites are also a problem here, and can kill a plant very quickly. (I couldn't figure out what the scratch marks were on the plants' stems). Mites thrive under dry, hot conditions. I honestly don't know but if you post on the tomato forum you'll probably get an answer and then we we'll all know. : ).

LiseP----It seems like you have fertilized, & your plants are putting on new leaves, & flowers, & tomatoes. That is what is happening. The fact that the new leaves are curly is o.k. The yellow leaves are dying off, so that the new leaves can take over. Did you say that you had just fertilized ?

You might want to check out this thread. It seems like it might be the same thing.http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1127133/
