Sports Talk!! Part 5

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Congrats Giants!!!!!!!!

Finally, there will be a WS winner who has not won in recent years.

South Hamilton, MA

Except everyone on the east coast will have to stay up late. TX is just an hours difference but not San Francisco. At the same time, it is good to see different teams.

Maine, United States(Zone 5b)

I'm happy with both teams that are going to the World Series, but probably won't watch much of it. It seems like the playoffs are always more exciting and dramatic than the WS. The WS always seems anti-climactic.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

They usually schedule for the east coast. Who cares about the rest of the country!

Maine, United States(Zone 5b)

That's right, Victor! :D

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

actually they schedule for central time - that is why the games start at 8PM - east coaster end up watching until midnight or later if it is the sox/yanks

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No - 8PM is prime time. Biggest ad dollars from 8-10.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

yes prime time - still not the normal 7:05 start we are use to all season long - that extra hour keeps up past bed time:)

will not see the end of the cowboys/giants tomorrow

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

Browns game is on here. They are leading in the 4th Q, hoping it stays that way as it will make DH happy.

New Boston, NH

Browns are due for a resurgence, when I was a kid they were unbeatable.

South Hamilton, MA

yes, but the Browns lost their team & had to start over & new people made a lot of mistakes in getting players.

Packers won but it was a bit nerve racking. It doesn't help that their best running back, rather so=so is out for the year while the vikings have 2 of the best runners in the league. Also injuries have thinned out Packer defense.

Maine, United States(Zone 5b)

My whole family hails from Cleveland, so I always have to wish the Browns well. I have to admit that I chuckled watching a clip last night of one of the Browns sailing into the end zone for a TD after the interception. I usually get annoyed by the endzone theatrics but that one amused me for some reason.

Nail biting win for the Patriots yesterday, too.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

Cleveland is still on a high from that win! They have a bye this week.

New Boston, NH

The Pats thrive on nail biters,I am to old for that.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Josh Hamilton said he could smell the weed being smoked in the crowd! Maybe the Rangers should try some.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

he would know - i think the rangers will be ok if they win the next game.

Thomaston, CT

Saw a great OT victory by Uconn last night over WV, a team they had never beaten.

Maine, United States(Zone 5b)

I hope the Rangers can win today and at least make the series competitive.

I'm looking forward to the return of Randy Moss tomorrow against the Patriots...should be interesting.

Thomaston, CT

I'm hoping San Fran pulls it out, but it's OK if the Rangers win.....

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

I love BigTen TV! I got to watch a feild Hockey game. I used to play it in High School. Michigan State beat Northwestern.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Cool.

Army football is 8th in the country in rushing! I'm going to the game on Saturday vs. Air Force.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

Now they are showing women's soccer. They cover alot of different sports.

South Hamilton, MA

Watched the Packers beat the Jets. Nice going guys especially as you are short handed.

Believe it or not, I played field Hockey as well (in the 50s). My Mom played in middie shirts & bloomers, but she got to play.

Thomaston, CT

Since I grew up in Waterbury, we had no girls' sports...no bus transportation, either. I feel gypped, loved sports, but my parents were only concerned about academics, & never listened to me whining. At age 12, started to play golf at our neighborhood course.....I guess they felt that was enough activity! In winter, skated almost every day.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Congrats, Giants!! Lincecum was awesome.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Rentaria deserved the MVP, though I would have had Lincecum share it.

South Hamilton, MA

We had girls intramural sports as kids, WI law said that except for a round robin type 'playday' interscholastic sports for girls were not legal. the next generation of girls didn't realize how lucky they were. However a contemporatary said they did not even have intermurals. the nuns at her school said that sports for girls were not 'ladylike' ( I think the bloomers worn by my mom's generation weren't ladylike).

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

how do the red sox get players like rentaria?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

What a clutch player and he sat for much of the season!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

For all the bad press NYC gets, this never happens after a sports victory. This is SF last night. Classy.

Thomaston, CT

Not too! Lincecum was awesome...he was awesome all season.....Mets didn't need him!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm sure the Yankees will offer Lee gazillions.

Thomaston, CT

And I'm sure he'll take it!

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

Rioting after a victory is stupid. And it doesn't make sense. If you're happy and want to celebrate why destroy things?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Looks like the LA riots years ago with less people though.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

And why were those people in the car targeted?? Random? Ranger fans?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

?????

Thomaston, CT

Just stupid.

Maine, United States(Zone 5b)

" how do the red sox get players like rentaria? "

What do you mean? They had him in 2005 and he wasn't very MVP-ish for them back then.

I never get sports related rioting, either. I guess it's a combo of high emotion and alcohol, and just some primitive urge that comes out when crowds take to the streets.
