I'll start off the new thread with a photo of a 'Belted Kingfisher'. I generally hear them well before I see them and it's difficult (for me) to get real close to them.

Thank you Linth for such a beautiful start on the new thread! Great capture of the Belted Kingfisher. I most often discovered one as it flew off from a distance, so catching one sitting still is a treat! I'd be so very happy to see those grosbeaks as well, I was fortunate to have seen the male grosbeak year before last, (just that once) and I was so thrilled. Hack, I noticed you've several GBs from the last thread, and I was envious. Back to Linth. Your "mad" Blue-Gray natcatcher is a cuties even when it's MAD. lol.
I haven't been taken alot of birds pics. However, this morning with the nice morning breez, I went outdoor and was greeted by this noisy, but lovingly busy-working pair Redheaded WPs.

Well it is time to go thru the photos from the last week. What I really like about this time of year is that I find lots of the birds feeding naturally. Found this shot of a Tufted Titmouse.....
Another Tennessee Warbler from back on the 23rd. I am seeing very few of the Tennessee's now.
This is from earlier today....I think it is a Ruby-crowned Kinglet. If I am wrong let me know! lol
Thanks Pelle, Nan, oh I could mistake the T. Warbler for a female Goldfinch anyday. I've the Goldfinches coming through here every so often to refuel while they migrate I think.

Not very nice weather here...rain/wind and 48 degrees..blaa...sunshine is coming in the middle of the week.
A shot of a Blue Jay from the other day. Just had an adult Cooper's Hawk capture a HS...he went right into their hiding spot and got one. Only 80 HS's left now. lol
Linth, I've been trying to get closer photos of the kingfishers here and still haven't got one near as good as yours-fantastic start! Love the clear, sharp feathers on the catbird pictures. Love the oriole and that gnatcatcher is adorable with the stern look.

This Northern Mockingbird landed on the upper deck to see what was in the feeder.
This California Quail looked pretty handsome.
Good start, linth. I frequently see kingfishers, but you are right, they are difficult to approach for close shots. Haven't been taking any pics. I'm currently in TX. Came down to watch a couple of football games. I enjoyed the high school game more than the OU win over TX. But then it's not every day that your team can't lose. My grandsons' schools played each other Friday night.
Not a great shot of these Sandhills, but good perspective of their habitat. A high meadow in Yellowstone N.P. from last week.
I got this shot of the Ruby-crowned Kinglet's back.....beautiful colors! I think mine is a female since no red crown is visible.

I finally got a good shot of a Chickadee. He kept flying at me and landing on the camera before he settled on this sunflower long enough to snap a pic.
Well, to get things going for the day, I'll go back into the archives a couple of weeks. A Trumpeter cygnet from Pagosa Springs, CO.

2 Mourning Doves and a White-breasted Nuthatch on the tray feeder.
Nanny, Ms. Cardinal is sweet and I love the look the dove and nuthatch are giving each other.
I was surprised when I watched one Scrub Jay feed the other above it on our deck. Both seem to have all their adult colors.
I missed the passing of the food, but the one on top got the food.
A small flock of Red-winged Blackbirds arrived to check out the sunflower seeds yesterday.
The sun was in the wrong spot, but this is the only male Red-winged I could catch with the camera-they saw me and took off.
The Northern Flickers are coming around our home more now that the fruit and berries are plentiful.
Awesome shots! I've been trying for ages to get a decent Flicker shot.

This Northern Flicker landed quite close while I was in the blind down at the creek. I had at least 28 species stop by yesterday, and a raven flew over. Very birdy cool fall day here.
