I have several watermelons still on the vine awaiting ripening here in Atlanta, GA. I have always bought the plants and placed in containers. I tried my back yard recently after much prep to keep nature from burrowing up or entering this area.
They are the yellow variety. The nights are now around 58 - 65 degrees here. How do I get them to ripen quicker or extend the season to get about 8 melons ready for harvesting? They are planted in my yard. Do I cover them with clear or dark plastic to protect them?
