Had a rare visitor over here last week, a Sharp-tailed Sandpiper. It should be in Australia. It turned up in England, and stayed 2 days before realising its mistake. Inevitably, it attracted a huge crowd of birders, me included. Hardly need add, a new one for me.

Congrats Resin!

Very nice, Res!
Hack, no problem. I am fortunate to live on the I-35 corridor where the Rubys and Black-chins overlap. I hadn't seen a Black-chin in a while, but that gorget was unmistakable. Very difficult to tell them apart with seeing it, you are correct.

Congratulations Resin! I'll bet that did draw a big crowd. Love that Pied Flycatcher too! Thanks for starting the new thread!

A Swainson's Warbler was captured and banded near Cape May State Park yesterday and a Western Kingbird was also seen.

Resin - Thanks for the thread start and congrats on your Lifer - must come few and far between for you. lol

pelle - the Black-throated Blue Warblers in the first link is the one I think is prettiest.

Hey Burd, all those pics on the last thread were great, especially the Brown Creeper and the Chickadee having a moment alone on your bird bath.

Tentative guess at Tennessee Warbler, but not enough detail to be certain

I would have to agree Resin! :)

Woohoo Resin, congrats on the new lifer. # 406!!! How many years did it take to reach this?
Burd, you have a great variety, in your yard. Love the Brown Creeper, and Nuthatch.
Nanny, I like seeing your Vultures. Don't have those here.

Some American Goldfinches.

Oak Titmouse is still here, and has made county record. So folks, keep taking pictures, keep sharing them, and learn who you should report unusual sightings too. Even if your images aren't the best, but you're able to ID, save them. I trashed my Great-tailed Grackle shots a few years back. That bird would have made record too, had I saved the lousy photos for documentation.

The following is a communication from a records keeper birdwatcher about the titmouse.

"Yours are the first verified records for Douglas County and, as such,
represent a range extension to the north of perhaps 30-40 miles. There are
no previous documented records for the Umpqua drainage; all known range has
been in the Rogue Valley, north to the foothills above Sams Valley and north
to the vicinity of Sexton Mountain."

Edited to mention that the Rogue Valley is south in Jackson County which borders California.

Resin, thanks for the new start and congratulations on your rare sighting.

Great photos everyone, I've way behind and trying to catch up.

Tigerlily, congratulations on your titmouse! I'm surprised that you're so close to the border of our state. I'm in Lake county which is a few hours south of you. I'll tell more of my little ones to visit their cousins at your house.

Doesn't it look like this bird is licking her lips?

I think this is a rose-breasted grosbeak fighting with the cardinal over their rightful spot on the feeder. Chickadee doesn't care...

He decided to pose for me. Yeah! I think he is a juvie by the streaking. (?) I haven't seen one in the fall before.

Hey Resin - I like the Little Egret pic

nanny_56 - I see all the Turkey Vultures, was something dead in the area?

Goodness burn - Those Goldfinches have covered you up. AND the pic of the Black-capped Chickadee is really nice.

tigerlily - Now that is cool, your Titmouse extending the sited range.

ducbucln - maybe you ought to stick a tube of Chap stick out for that Lesser Goldfinch, I bet its got chapped lips from licking them. lol

JulieQ - that 2nd pic of the Rose-breasted Grosbeak is great.

Burd_Fotos - that's a nice pic of the chickadee.
