Our lawn is pretty nice but there's one spot on the side of our house, measuring about a foot in diameter, where no grass will grow. I called it our "unhallowed ground!" We have tried everything from reseeding to buying a special Scott's grass product that promised to grow grass anywhere! 1. Why is this happening? and 2. Is there a cure? Thank you in advance.

Unhallowed groundno grass grows here
Is there something under the surface, like an old stump or rock or pipe?
In that part of the country didn't they bury oil tanks for furnaces near the house? It could be a pipe from that buried there.
i've had to deal with these dead spots often. nearly all have been caused by boats or heavy equipment leaking deisel or hydrolic fluid. dig the soil out at least 6 " wider and 12" deep and replace it with other soil.
I have a spot like that and it is where a weeping willow used to live. I can't imagine why it is still so resistant to growing grass there.
