Let's talk about sleep. Are you a sound sleeper? Do you fall asleep quickly or have trouble?
What time do you usually go to sleep? Does anything help you fall asleep - reading, tv, certain foods?
How many hours do you sleep? If you're retired, do you still get up the same time you always did when you worked?
Are you a morning person? Night person?
Do you like to sleep on your stomach, back or side? Prefer a softer or firmer mattress? Pillow?
Whaddya say 5 - Sleeping
I'll talk, I don't usually get enough :(
I thought at first you meant you talk in your sleep! My wife does all the time. And snores!
Interesting topic, I have crazy sleeping hours. Being tired helps me fall asleep, nothing else helps. My sleep is usually divided into 2 or 3 parts, a 2hr nap, then 8hrs awake, then 4hrs asleep ...etc etc. I go to bed about 12 -12:30am, but fall asleep about 1 to 2am. them back up at 5:30am - My sleep is all over the place! lol!
I do get rest by just closing my eyes and going into a 'beta state' while in bed, sort of ½ awake and ½ asleep, -falling in and out of deep and light sleep. Sometimes if have a bad dream in that state I can consciously go back to the dream and fix it so that it comes out the way I want it to! (lol). I also seem to know what time it is while I sleep +/- 2-3 minutes w/o having to look at the clock, I can awaken at a certain time w/o an alarm clock. 98% of the time I don't feel tired even though my sleep patterns are random.
Definitely a night person till 4am, but can function fine in the mornings when necessary. Usually find myself waking up on my left shoulder so I'd say a side sleeper, firm mattress and pillow, no nightlights - pitch black preferably.
I'm a sound sleeper. I usually fall asleep within half an hour of laying down. I sleep on my side with both dogs, one on each side, under the blankets with me.
I'm usually in bed by 10pm, unless I'm working 'til 11, then I'm in bed by 12.
If I'm having trouble sleeping a cup of Sleepy-Time tea solves it.
I'd sleep 'til noon every day easily except the dogs get me up between 7 and 8.
I have to have 2 pillows. Feather one one the bottom and a foam one on top. I have to have my bed up against a wall and I sleep with my back to the wall. I can't sleep in a bed that's in the middle of a room. Not a chance.
Soft mattress. Evening person.
edited to remove the bolding I tried to do...when did they take away that ability?

Are you a sound sleeper? Do you fall asleep quickly or have trouble? I can't wake up with the slightest sound, my mind is usuing going a mile a minute so takes me awhile to finally go to sleep
What time do you usually go to sleep? Does anything help you fall asleep - reading, tv, certain foods? Usually 1am. I have to be really tired to fall asleep, reading actually keeps me awake esp if it's a good book, like the other night I was reading Tom Clancy's The Bear and the Dragon and it was at a really good part...I didn't go to bed till 3:30am
How many hours do you sleep? If you're retired, do you still get up the same time you always did when you worked? I have to sleep in increments of 3, so 3, 6 or 9 hrs I am fine, anyone other I am screwed up
Are you a morning person? Night person? Obviously a night person
Do you like to sleep on your stomach, back or side? Prefer a softer or firmer mattress? Pillow? On my side, firm mattress but super soft pillow
- I did read someplace that sleep patterns change as we get older, with men needing more sleep than women and also becoming less regular, (like a baby's sleep pattern), as we age.
Wow - Jen and WC - you have some odd patterns but are lucky they work for you!
I am neither a morning nor night person! I am definitely sleeping more theses days, when I can. I like sleeping, but hate having slept late! That doesn't stop me though.
We have a Tempurpedic. Has helped my back, but it still hurts when I sleep too long.
I fall asleep pretty easily. I go about 11:30 or so. I do like to read a bit before.
Two dog night for LA!
With lots of cappuccino!
Get up the same time as when I worked? Hahahaha! No. I used to have to get up at 6, would go to bed at 10, & read for an hour. Now I go to bed between 10:30 & 11, & read until at least midnight. Suey sleeps on the bed with me, wakes me between 6-7...I let the dogs out, Robs stays out, Suey comes back to bed, & we usually sleep til 8 or 8:30. Cannot sleep past 9. Some nights can't fall asleep at all, toss & turn for hours. Other nights, I can't remember turning out the light. I sleep on a tempurpedic topper, every which way, except on my back...had to sleep that way when I broke my hip, & it's hard for me to do....have to see the nightlight in the bathroom...have to have 2 pillows...room has to be cool. My schedule is going to have to change when I sub, & I'll be grouchy.......
No lights at all here. We even cover the led of the radio!
Have not been able to sleep on my belly for a very long time. Either my back or side.
Need to see the clock....no clock in the motel room when I went to Maine last week....I complained....the desk clerk couldn't find one! so I opened up my cell phone every couple of hours.....
I am a sound sleeper but can hear little things. Like a bat was in my hummer water. When I have my daily toddies I fall right asleep. If I dont - well who knows what I will do.
Here it is 6:30 and I should be in bed - NOW. The TV is on all night and all day, its the way of life.
I get up anywhere between 3:30 and 5:30 - depends what time I fall asleep. I never have and still dont get up past 6:00, when I worked or when I dont. 6:00 is Late! I am a morning person. Dont move at night, go into a non-moving state.
Sleep on my left side. Knees curled up and arm over my head. It dont matter what the mattress is as long as its not a board with nails. I need my pillow to curve up over my ears or I could hear the dog breathing.
Then the dreams come. Some repeated or parts repeated. It seems that 90% of the time I am running or being chased. Last night I was in a building and to get from one part to the main exit I had to find the hidden tunnel. I missed the tunnel and had to start from the begining a couple of times. When I did find the tunnel and stepped into it I was going 100 mph - like a time warp. I did it 5 times and then woke up.
I could never go to sleep early. Even when I woke at 4:30 I could not go to sleep before 10:30 or so.
I used to have normal sleeping hours, but then I started working and pulling night shifts and back to day shifts and back again, that's when my sleep patterns went wacky. lol!
I hated it when I worked occasional nights. Threw me off for days.
we have a tempurpedic here too nice and firm - wife wanted something better for her back - we have a king bed that is needed because i share it with cindy scissor legs - otherwise i'd be kicked all night - i sleep on my side - use to sleep on my stomach and over time went to the side - takes a while to fall asleep - usually in bed by 10.
My wife assaults me in her sleep! I've been punched, scratched, slapped and kicked many times. My little guy is the same. He does gymnastics while asleep.
When hubby is doing a lot of weight training I get hit a lot (from his muscle spasms or something)
I'm a morning person, often up at 4, but usually up between 5-6. I used to hit the snooze button on my alarm 5 times, now I don't use an alarm clock. Go to bed between 9-10.
Down mattress topper, down comforter, down pillow that is broken in enough to scrunch into any shape I want, flip it over whenever I wake up so the cool side is next to me. At a hotel, no pillow at all because they are too thick and firm.
Usually fall asleep easily, while reading the newspaper, if it's a good book, then it might keep me awake. Occasionally have trouble going back to sleep if I wake up during the night, and if that happens it usually happens for a few nights in a row.
Side sleeper, with the comforter tucked all around me, but not near my face, except when it's hot, then it's just the sheet.
I forgot to add, I usually get up at least once to pee!
I'm deaf in my right ear since birth and so always, always sleep on my left side. I'm still working, start work at 5:30am (up at 4am), so to bed by 9. On my days off I'm usually in bed by 10 or 11pm and sleep a glorious 8 hours. Always have been a morning person.
I've decided I'm an afternoon person.
I go to bed around 11pm. Unless I'm sick, I can't go to bed any sooner. I nedd the tv as my brain keeps going forever. I'm a night person the has to be at work @7am. Not fun. I sleep on my back and share the bed with hubby and 71/2 lb cat (who think he owns the queen-sized bed!)
Cute! My dog weighs about 50, & she hogs space as well.
He likes hubby's side best because he can get more room that way.

1. Not a sound sleeper....unless im over tired. I fall asleep quickly unless I have alot on my mind.
2. I fall asleep between 10:30 and midnight, T.V. or reading makes me tired.
3. I can only sleep for 5-7 hours and then im up. It doesn't matter if im on vacation or not.
4. Morning person....now that im older. Used to be a night person in my 20's & 30's but now I have a hard time keeping my eyes open past 11.
5. Sleep on my side or back, injury to the hip years ago keeps me tossing and turning at night. Spent so much time pregnant that sleeping on my belly was not an option....now i just plain forget!! LOL Fairly firm pillowtop mattress....Serta or Sealy I think.
empty glass of water up too many times to pee
lol
I dont have those nights often. Something has to be really bothering me.
Dead serious I want to make a quilt! I dont care if its one of just the same material I have! I have been attempting to make one for 3 years. I went out and bought the material. I started but the pattern is too hard. 4-3/4" squares and 2-1/2" rectangles (what ever you call them) . Now I have messed with the material and I dont have enough of THIS to do one. I liked these colors.
I should start with a solid 6" by 6" square so I can get back into sewing with the dang machine. KISS - keep it simple stupid.
I like the colors/pattern
I love the colors....will make a nice quilt...I have been knitting the same sweaters for my gkids over & over.....never come out right! The knittings OK, can't sew them together correctly.....
Nice colors Sherrie, that will look really nice when you get it put together!
Find a quilting circle, do you have a craft store near you? they usually have classes
