North Central Texas Fall Roundup Trade Thread, Part 2

Dallas, TX

Peg, could I have some of you mother of thousands, please?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Got you covered on the Epi Cheryl. I will bring several feet of paddles...or whatever you would call them and clippers; others may want them.

Anna, no wonder we get along so well; we both love cats! LOL

Grapevine, TX(Zone 8a)

Kate, I'll put your name on the extra inland sea oats.

Prosper, TX(Zone 8a)

Kate sure you can have some sunflower seeds and thanks for the oregano.

Sheila and DFW Dennis

Those look more like a variety of day blooming epiphyllum. The night blooming cereus only blooms at night, hangs down and the leaves are much wider. At least on my cereus, it only blooms on second year growth.

Not sure about the epi's, but here's a good site for them.

Okay, folks. This is my last offer. I've decided to get rid of my butterfly bush. It's approx. 4 years old. It has dark purple blooms, but has never really done well for me. I'll be happy to dig it up and cut it back pretty severely to pot it up if anyone wants it.

Here's my newest kitty. He's about 21 weeks old now and a total pistol.

Stephanie, I'd love to have the butterfly bush and both cats! However, trying to load those big rocks into the van has been impossible, so I'll have to make do with the cats we already have. lol The last time I brought a new kitty home, the kitty profanity from the others was quite unpleasant and went on for several weeks.

I wasn't offering my cats, just the plant! LOL I wouldn't trade mine away for all the rocks in the world. I've put too much time and money into them including that little cutie in the pic above.

I'll have DH dig it up tomorrow and put your name on the plant. Any idea how far to cut it back?

Grapevine, TX(Zone 8a)

I haven't had good luck with my butterfly bush, either. It tends to look very crispy, and suffers lots of branch die back.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Chuck....On the epi....I guess it was Anna's and mine that I felt looked alike not Dennis'. Mine does bloom at night and wilts with the morning sun, but I am sure it isn't a night blooming cereus.

ALL----I am updating my getting/giving on my link at the top. Please check it and see if you are down for the items I promised.

Stephanie.... I would love some zinnia seeds if you haven't run out. And you asked about white salvia, I saw where Patricia offered some.

Ken.... I may have a Mystic Spires Salvia plant...will check.

Patricia.... I would like a Laitris and a few DLs your choice.

Pattie..... Would you like one of my Blue Crown passion vines? They are evergreen, which is good since the fritilarys overwinter here.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Sheila, I've got PLENTY of zinnia seeds and will bring you some.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks Stephanie.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Just teasing about the kitties, but I looked back and saw it was Anna who was jokingly "offering" hers for rocks, not you, Stephanie. Your tabby looks like our Charlie Monster, now a year old, but still the life of the party around here. Tonight all five of the recessed lights in the kitchen were flickering. Then not. Then flickering again. Then off. Call the electrician! DH looked over and saw Charlie sitting on a piece of furniture where he could reach the light switches. He was a hungry little drop-off at our barn (near the county road) right before Thanksgiving last year, and we brought him home. He keeps his tummy topped off and has grown to be a very substantial cat already.

Sheila, I will put you down for liatris and daylilies.

Stephanie, I have plenty of white salvia greggii and/or I can bring some daylilies for you too.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL about your smart cat!! I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time, but it's funny now!

I'll take the white salvia greggii. I have plenty of daylilies right now. I don't know what to do with them all!

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Hopefully Charlie was not real sure of what he was doing with the lights, so perhaps it won't be something he does habitually. yeah right.... I imagine his little kitty brain has already stored that moment under "fun"!

Okay, Stephanie, white salvia greggii for you (and no kitties required in trade. :>)

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Funny story....at least you saw him and didn't have an repair bill trying to search out a mysterious short!
Appreciate the Laitris and DLs Patricia.

My butterfly bush has never done well either! Starts out in spring ok and makes blooms but never really looks good. Is it the heat?

Well, got my dad out of ICU tonite & into a room & my mom is getting excited about the RU!!! She is telling me where "we" need to dig in her yard, to have to bring!!!! So, while the Cheesecake is baking, I'm going to be digging!! Good use made of my free time away fr the hosp!!!
Steph, when you cut back the BF Bush, would you mind throwing the cuttings into a plastic bag for me? If you aren't going to need them? If I can get them to grow, I can supply everyone in the spring! & if you have an extra POD, could I have one please?
Datura & Kate, ask Debnes for Candlestick seeds. She has had them in the past! I finally have one blooming, first time ever!!!. If I have any seeds, I'll share in the spring.
Somewhere back up above, some seeds were asked for like Datura, well, when I made the RU in Baton Rouge, I got a bunch of good seeds. They were misplaced & just surfaced shortly ago. I'm bringing them. Many differInt kinds. They are in FtW & I'm in Dallas or would list them. Would love to share!!!
Cheryl, if you have any left, could I have a red DL & a Garnet salvia?
Read everything since last posting on Tues. Just too many comments & 'I would likes'.
But I think my babies (cats) should get an award for most miles traveled so Momma (me) can play w/plants!!!

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

Glad your dad is doing well. What a relief! It is me who has Crimson Pirate and garnet salvia greggii. I think I have them in pots for you.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Glad your dad is doing well, Alyce! I know that's a big relief for both you and your mom. Will be good to see both of you tomorrow. The bulbs I got from your mom in the spring are doing great!!

Hi, just wanted to mention that I don't think I was after candlestick seeds, so whoever has them please don't bring them for me.

Sorry all if I'm a little "short"/direct in my message today. I got home from being with my sister in the ER in Dallas at 3 this morning (no need to worry -- she's fine now, an ongoing issue that flared up and needs to be worked out). Anyway, needless to say Richard and I are exhausted. Fortunately I've been getting everyone's plants together over the week, so we're good on the trade front, but I don't think I'll be bring much for my "up to grabs table" -- so whoever my table neighbors are tomorrow feel free to move into my space.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Awww, Kate! Sorry to hear about the overnight sit at the ER with your sister. Glad she's doing fine. Get some rest today!!

Fort Worth, TX

my butterfly bushes do really well but they are in full sun and get treated to rabbit poop occasionally I have 2 6' tall davidii and a 6' white and a 5' light purple. I love them and I am rooting cuttings

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Dennis, I've been collecting seeds from my pink rain lily. Do you want some?

Grapevine, TX(Zone 8a)

Sounds great, Stephanie. Thanks!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Perko~I have a couple of Mexican Mint Marigold plants for you. They're AKA as Texas Tarragon since Tarragon doesn't grow well here. Do you want one? They're pretty much an annual, but come back in the spring. They bloom late fall.

Dennis~Will get some seeds for you.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Banana, got your buckets & lids. If you have any more columbine, I'd love to give it a new home.
Steph, make sure you tell my mom tomorrow about the bulbs. That will just make her day!!!
Kate, sorry for your ruff nite. It is extremely tuff just sitting in any hosp, waiting!!! I had down that you had coleus & Irene Somebody lantana & you wanted Candlestick seeds & a Loropet. I think I have you & Greta mixed up! I think it must be the length of ya'll names or maybe it is the hr or maybe, I'm just too tired to write properly!! lol
Just like I'm getting Bluemaven & Bkraven mixed up in my mind now! I think I should quit thinking!!!lol
Well, I'm headed back to the hosp, then take Mom home, bake the Cheesecake, dig Mom's plants, & hopefully, don't run out of daylite b4 I'm done!!!
Don't know if I will be online again b4 tomorrow, so if not, I'll see ya'll manana.
:~)

Grandview, TX(Zone 8a)

What is candlestick? Is it cassia? If so I have some seeds for it. Who was wanting them?

Dallas, TX

Hi Smockette,

We may both be too tried today to be trying to sort this out in anyway that makes sense, but her goes :)

I have Patrob down for both the coleus and the Irene Lantana. I'm happy to bring you both-- though they will be cuttings-- just let me know. I've looked and it doesn't look like I've requested anything from your list, so no need to worry about me.

Have a great day, get some rest and I'll see you tomorrow.

Kate

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm done digging! LOL Got my butterfly bush dug up and potted and got Smockette's cuttings in a large container filled with water. Now I just have to get everything labeled, but that will wait until it's cooler.

I now have some "San Antonio Firecracker" daylily fans and 2 very ratty looking blackberry lily fans (they come together) if anyone's interested. The SA Firecracker has an extended bloom time and puts out seed pods. It increases quickly. I went from 2 fans to about 10 in 2 years.

Any takers?

catz--you are bringing me bulbs (3 peruvian) and possible toad
you haven't told me what you want-i have a few more things i am adding so if you don't see something on my list there is still a chance i will have something you like--

Arlington, TX

I would like them Stephanie. San Antonio Day lily sounds interesting.

Wichita Falls, TX

Stephanie, yes, I'd love the daylilies. . . If no one else wants them. . . as it is, I already feel like a plant thief. Such fun!

Bad news for Tina A and Aunt Jean -- my transplanted pink and white crape mrytles are not happy in a pot. They are so unhappy, they refuse to live. . . think dead. So sorry! BUT, I am getting some red ones from Kenboy -- if you are interested you could have these!

Looking forward to tomorrow! Now to go print a google map! Sure don't want to get lost -- though that has become my custom while in Dallas/Ft. Worth!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Cheryl, the pics above are from my SA Firecracker DL (like that abbreviation?). You'll like it! Last year, it rebloomed in the fall for me, but it won't this year since I moved them into the ground. I'll put your name on 2 fans and if no one else wants the rest, you can have them.

Plano, TX

stephanie--what do you want from my list?

Plano, TX

stephanie--can i try one fan?

Plano, TX

banana--what do you want from my list?

Arlington, TX

Very pretty color Stephanie I will take 2 and you can give the others to Linda and others. I am just starting to add some daylilies to my garden and so those will definately be welcome. I have some purple and pink rebloomers and if they grow well I will eventually have some to share.
C

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Alrighty then! The DLs are gone. Linda, don't worry about trading. I have plenty to share!
