Ground Cover

Roby, TX

Is there a ground cover that only grows 6" or less and is drought tolerant for Denton county in Texas?

Schaumburg, IL

Hello, redrosesann.
So you're looking for groundcovers that grow 6 inches or less and are drought tolerant?
Iceplant(Delosperma) is probably your best choice. It can take considerable drought
and has colorful flowers in the Spring. It can handle exposure in full sun.

Rockcress(Arabis) is another choice. Choose low growing varieties like "sturii."
Exposure is also full sun.

If part shade or full shade is your exposure, try dwarf periwinkle(Vinca minor). It can get by with
moderate water. Hope that helps. Let me know what you come up with. Take care.

You might try creeping daisy but you should check it out on the ID forum. Some people find it invasive and it will spread but I keep mine under control by pulling it up when it heads off in an area I don't want it to go.
