Cooking for mother & sister today.....meatloaf, noodles with sour cream & dill, summer squash medley, salad......

Mmmm...sounds better than the chili....I ordered a sweet pepper collection from Burpee's....one plant had long, narrow yellowish peppers that didn't look sweet....I put one in the chili tonight...it was hot. I'm surprised it didn't bother me when I cut it up....maybe cooking it brought out the heat....

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Robin, did you put the seeds in?

Had spaghetti and meatballs.

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

For a blast from the past -- when it is cold outdoors and I just want to sit and watch TV - I will make Lipton Noodle
Soup -- drain the juice and add a little butter - or - a toaster grilled cheese (toast the bread...pop it up.. slice it almost all the way through but not quite... add a slice of cheese (for me swiss) and then pop it back down in the toaster for a few seconds - be sure the side that you haven't cut through is down).

If I am cooking - the 'makes it over the years' meals that will pop up for the chilly days are pasta fagioli, broccoli and pasta soup, peas and macaroni, pea soup, and beef stew. Can you tell I come from a laaarge family??

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

my mom always made me giggle noodle soup when I was sick... can't have that one anymore... has yeast in it

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

onewish if I am not being too nosy - what is giggle soup and why can't you eat yeast?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

don't know the zoopman huh?... LOL

I am allergic to yeast... take shots for it though... so I cheat and eat bread sometimes

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Wow I never saw that soup, we kept those noodle-o's in the house growing up

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

think it had hearts, stars and moons in it

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

cute

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sounds like Lucky Charms!

Thomaston, CT

No, Allison, I didn't throw the seeds in, I scraped them out....my hands didn't burn, but the little demon turned hot in the chili...hot for me anyway....a chilihead would not have even noticed it.

Grilled chicken, potato foils and something. Robin if your hands didnt burn you got lucky. I had to almost go to the hospital last year as it felt I put my hands in a bonfire. Hot peppers - wear gloves. Trust me.

Thomaston, CT

This pepper wasn't real hot, just too hot for my tastes...I think it was a banana pepper. Went out to dinner with friends tonight.....had an olive & mushroom pizza.....

Hillsborough, NC(Zone 7b)

My grandson might actually eat that giggle soup! Is it for real or is it a joke?

Tonight a spinach enchilada, guacomole, rice and beans.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Celeste, I made your pumpkin bread for dinner at a friends last night. I made it in an 8" round cake pan, topped it with pecan halves. It was a hit, only 6 of us and it was finished!
