growing Vernonia altissima (Jonesboro giant ) from seed

I have tried for three years to start new plants from the many seeds i have collected in the fall after the flowers have turned to seed and dried. But i have had very little luck. out of sooo many seeds i have only grown one plant from seed? Help...any ideas or advice????
