Bill has issues - needs tissues.
Victor's is bigger.. and we have photos to prove it!!
Yet butt kicks at horse shoes ^_^
I heard he makes up his own rules.
I like that phrase... has issues needs tissues
It was a super RU....glad to see everyone once again, & to have met new friends.....whoever does the next RU will have a tough time after Bill's!
It was very nice, but I think everyone's gardens are unique and RU worthy! Mine is certainly a lot smaller, but I enjoy it just the same.
i agree deb!
has issues .. needs tissues fits me right now
my tissues have issues
even better
We need photos of both Dawn redwoods....that's what we're discussing, yes? Or maybe not!
YES! :) this is not one of those web sites!!
thought your pond was bigger.
hehe
Looks small next to the monster redwood.
By the way, I'm getting the weeping one, Miss Grace from FW.
looked at that that one too - decided on a peve yellow bald cypress instead this past spring. the leaves are very similiar to redwood except the bald cypress can grow basically in water so i planted it down in front of my fire pit where it is very wet in the spring.
I have Peve Minaret and like it.
If a bald cypress has leaves, why is it called 'bald'? Very nonsensical IMPO.
nice - my peve yellow is about 3 1/2 tall growing to 6' although still not full or really picture worthy yet. and since it is in the way back portion of the yard it has weeds at its base - can NOT let the be posted :)
Ask a bald eagle.
add it your quackwasy dictionary i thinkid...........
Called bald because they drop their needles.
leaves are yellow.
Larches drop their needles and they aren't called bald. Actually I like to call them tamaracks (tree that makes good snowshoes). Me thinks baldcypress needs a new name like fallingcypress or whisperingcypress. ps Victor I'll let you tell the big eagle that he's follicly challenged.
I completely agree with Debilu as to everyone's gardens being unique and offering a treasure to be shared. As everyone could see, Bill's gardens are close to a professional arboretum and then some, and it would be a shame if others hesitated to hold an RU because they don't have gardens like Bill's. Each of us has something to share that expands the narrow image of pics we post. I have been to 4 different homes for RUs - in addition to the one we had here - and we enjoyed each one in a distinctly different way. There's just something (for me) about being able to envision each of you in your home setting as we converse throughout the year about our respective garden issues and triumphs. Small gardens are awesome too, and it is really fun to see how much some people can do with a tiny piece of property, just as with a tiny house. I love to see creative approaches that transform otherwise blah settings. If I had to do it over again, I'd have an RU here during peak bloom time for my gardens, and not in the fall when most of my stuff was long gone, as we did. But we had a ball having people come and relax and enjoy being together and providing a place for that to happen and for the plant swap to take place as well. Hopefully, next year some others will hop on board the RU train, knowing that it is the variety of seeing different gardens that makes it so interesting!
i concur :)
I knew you would, Bill. You surely do set a high standard, and I knew that your gardens would blow people away. But it's so nice that you enjoy going to other gardens that are not just like yours as well. It's not a competition here........except between you and Victor, of course.....LOL.......so bravo to you!! It was simply fabulous and you worked really hard to have them be so primo!!
thanks louise - not so sure they were primo - like you june is a better time here especially for the jm's - most of the flowers had already been cut to the ground let alone past.
i just like to see othere yards, how folks have designed the yard, and the plant choices they have made - then decided if any of it would fit here.
I do not think victor and i have any competition - actually we seem to have some of the same tastes except for i do not care for the pinus conifers - beside he only has a 1/4 acre - how can he keep up:)
LOL, Bill! Of course my reference to your competition was just in the humorous sense of this thread. We can see that any competition is all in good fun. I for one would love to see what Victor has done with that quarter acre, but he's afraid we'll talk to his DW about the Disney Girls.....right, Victor? Would we do that???!!!
i would love to see it myself!
Yeah, but you might let some things slip.........accidentally, of course....
guys do not do that, and he was as aways joking - i might ask his wife for her professional opinion on what seems to be and endless list of minor aliments..
She hasn't helped me in over 20 years.
LOL!
