If I harvest the asparagus shoots will the crown produce another shoot in the same season or will I have to wait until next year?

Snap the growing tip off near the ground after they're about 7"-8" tall and new sprouts will come up alongside the one you took. They should give you new spears every few days until the growing season is over.
