How do you get a cattleya orchid to bloom? Mine is about a year old since I bought it and it has green shoots but no blooming going on. I don't know much about orchids. I'm just starting out so any help is appreciated. I didn't post in the orchid section because specialty areas I can't understand the answers to very well, being that I'm still a kinder~gardener! lol

Catteleya
Lillibetha, Catts need a lot of light to bloom. Plus they only bloom off new pseudobulbs. This one gets a little direct sun and the rest is just lightly filtered. I am also including a link for you with more info in fairly plain language. http://www.repotme.com/orchid-care/Cattleya-Care.html
I have scanned the original picture of this flower.
Thanks for the information about light. I don't have a good window to put this orchid in so it gets only afternoon sun and mornings are indirect light at best. Is there an inexpensive light one could buy for an orchid or plants generally? I never bought indoor grow lights before.
I spent $10 on a fluorescent light fixture and tube and have had it for 4 or 5 years. Seems to work just fine. Here is some basic care info for your cattleya.
