Just checked the "Coinstar" website, they've bumped it up to 9.8% !!!!!!!

Ouch! Mafia rates.

I was going to say it's 9% here, but if you get an amazon card, or starbucks, or a couple others, there is no charge. For awhile ours wasn't working to get a starbucks card, so they'd give cash back for no charge.

I'll bet the bank doesn't want to be bothered by counting change anymore....even 10 or so years ago, coins had to be wrapped, & the teller would tell you to come during non-peak hours.....

You live in a kinder, gentler area, Deb!

They'll kick you out the door if you go there with change! Everybody will look at you funny and give you dirty looks! (lol!)

Ugh!

Victor, please consider renting the Steve Martin comedy, "My Blue Heaven."

You will not only see an enjoyable, funny comedy, you will also see, about 3/4 into the film, a hand-driven automatic coin sorter.

It won't really help your coin dilemma, but it's a nice way to spend 1.5 hours.

Thanks - I'll add it to my Netflix list.

When I was a single parent and struggling a little financially I went to the grocery store and tried to pay in rolled coins. The cashier told me they wouldn't accept rolled coins. I broke open the roll and counted them out to her. She told me that wasn't what she meant!

Two decades ago, a real estate investor gave a lecture, and he advised his listeners to ask very direct questions to gather the facts.

(Sometimes bank REO's and other potential profit opportunities don't want to show their "poker hand.")

The advice from the lecturer: "Be ....Pleasantly Pushy....."

Don't be mean, don't be rude, just continue to ask polite questions......in a "sort of" aggressive manner.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

that's great debi!

Thomaston, CT

Good for you, Deb....I probably would have said something I regretted.......

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Debi you are goooooooood. I am having a hoot trying to open up a US funds bank account at the moment At my bank you can only access the account from Canada (because of course I need US$ in Canada ROFL). The local Wells Fargo does not open bank accounts; they only handle US investments. With them I have to go to the states and open the account and then I can access my account through the local branch as well as in the states.
