I have a couple different heleniums, close to 4 ft tall, they did kinda flop with all the wind we had, but I staked them and they look good now. It's partly because I don't get tons of sun either, so I stretch everything a little.

I didn't know tomatoes would come true in the 2nd generation unless they were heirloom.

In one of the hummingbird photos (one that has both orange and blue flowers), it shows a plant on the right-hand side, a plant that looks like the "purple heart" plant you got for $1 not too long ago.

Is it the same one or a different one? The one in the photo has more green, but color can vary according to how much sun it gets, like coleus.

Purple heart is also called "wandering jew."

Allison, those hummers are wonderful. I havnt seen one in weeks.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

that is the same one BA.... was going to pot it up and see if it will survive in the greenhouse for the winter.. just have to confuse the names don't they???

thanks guys... it was a joy watching the aerial show the last few days... must be migrating.. been seeing a bunch at one time .. and that doesn't happen here often... the one that is sitting in the pussy willow keeps attacking any others who come in the yard.. been having his hands full though

I had seen some dropped leaves. The trees are just beginning to turn color and the River Birch is shedding.I heard geese this morning so. I just dont want to take any chances.
I will be putting in Narcissus and Tulip bulbs the next few days.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

JoAnn my electric lime didn't impress me too much this year... maybe just got a bum one

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Maybe you did. I believe mine did better in dapply shade than full sun whisc it is said to tollerate.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

hhhmmm mine was in a lot of sun.. maybe that was the problem.. it didn't burn though

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Mine didnt burn either. The leaves were smaller and the whole plant didnt get as big as the one in dapply shade.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

That is Apache Sunset.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

looks close color to the ap. sprite... how tall do you think it is?

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I just tried to find an example that gives the height mine are at,
PF says 18-24 .Most other searches says its a medium height.Mine is as tall as my echies and Asiatic lily Giraffe.
Its definatly taller than Apricot. My guess 24-30 inches.
Its growing between the lily and cones.

Nice agastache JoAnn. My 'Sonoran Sunset' is still blooming and so is 'Heat Wave'. I am definitely getting more of these next spring. They bloom for a very long time and the hummers love them, now if they get through the winter. 'Heat Wave' came back so I am hoping to have the same luck with SS and future additions.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Mine are in their second year. So far so good.

A few pics from the garden yesterday.
This is another pic of rose 'Black Cherry'. I have taken many pics of this new rose and can't quite capture it's true beauty.
