Help Me Identify A Plant Type

Buffalo, NY

I'm searching for the name of a plant/tropical - tree I see often and would like to research to see if I would like one. Havn't any pictures just decription:

It reminds me of a Yucca, but the cane has bands on it that are obvious to the eye, and is usually abstract in form, that is-- it meanders about. The cane is mostly bare, (I'm sure as it grows older leaves drop from bottom), then the head is like that of a Yucca, but sometimes a little more limp or longer blades with bends in them. Green leaft type, shape and legnth of Yucca's if not longer. Often times the cane trunks even twist. I once saw one in a book store so large they had various portions suspended from the ceiling with some type of thin rope.

Well --- that's it! Gave it my best shot. Hope someone can help me identify this plant/tree and mabe provide some images for me to see what your thoughts are.

Thanks everyone!

These is a soft leaf Yucca but I'd be you are seeing Dracaena. They would be a far more common indoor plant.

Do either of these look close?

Thanks for the reply. I stopped in my local Nursery this morning to pick up a Nepenthes and to hunt down the plant type! It's a Draceana Aborea. They have one in the Nursery quite robust and healthy. I won't be acquiring one right now as I have no where to put it in my current house. I'll be moving next year, we'll see then, or perhaps it'd make a great variety for my office as this particular Draceana (unlike most) prefers bright (direct) sunlight verses bright (indirect) light.

Thanks. As for care, other than the above difference most Draceanas are cared for alike. I have two Draceana Marginatas at home. One taller than me over 6ft tall. Their my favorites.

Thanks again--- are you familiar with this variety?

Sorry Typo, moving to fast --- "Draceana Arborea".

No, I had the Yucca and just share a passion for plants.

You are welcome!
