Daily Bird Pics Vol. 343

Marlton, NJ

Congratulations on the new birds GP! Love that Cape May Warbler!!

Nanny, Glad the Flicker is enjoying your bird bath.

Melbourne, FL

Thanks, everyone. Activity is really beginning to pick up here. I sure hope we have a mild winter and the birds aren't chased further South. I just placed my order for Millet seed for the Buntings.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Nice new watering hole Mrs. Ed!
GP...you are getting the birds now...great shots and congrats on the new birds! That little Warbler is adorable.
Duc...love your shots...the Bushtit and Nuttals are on my want list!
Burn...omg that is a great shot!
Nanny...your new watering hole is definitely rewarding you!!

A pair of Red-headed Woodpeckers landed on the dead tree a few days ago. They seem to be such playful birds!

GP, great flight shot of the Killdeer and I love that Cape May Warbler-that one is full of personality.

Nanny, cute flicker and dove. That birdbath is sure attracting your birds.

Burn, love that "look" on your vistor too!

Rose, I'd gladly trade some Bushtits and Nuttals for a few of those beautiful red-headed birds-wow!

My oriole juvies are continuing to gather strength for the migration by munching on the neighbors' apples.

Still have one that begs for food.

I'm still trying to get a decent photo of the Belted Kingfisher. Found this one at the park last week, but it was a good distance away.

Our grebes are continuing to build nests on the vegetation in the lake. This is a Clark's Grebe we found while on the kayak.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Your Orioles are so cute Duc and I am jealous of your Kingfisher shot! I would like to see the Clark's Grebe you mention on the above post.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Well, guess I should have checked to make sure the photo was there. Sorry Rose, here she is....

Wow...very pretty!!

Rose, Love the Red-headed Woodpecker!

Duc, Lovely shots ! The Orioles are adorable and the Grebe is great looking!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

That Grebe needs some Visine!

This was really weird today… I was wondering when it was last year that I saw the Red-breasted Nuthatch in my yard. I thought it was spring, but turns out it was two weeks in November. Then suddenly this one showed up!!! Guess my Bird ESP was working.

I never could get a good one of this Chipping Sparrow feeding its young! They are sure fun to watch tho. :)

Discret booty shot of Mr. Cardinal! lol

Mr. Cooper's Hawk had no luck this day either....

Mrs. Ed, it seems like lots of people are seeing their birds either earlier or later than usual. Glad this one showed up for you.

Nanny, that goldfinch is sure pretty. Cute feeder photo of the sparrows. Love the "booty" photo.

I've been enjoying several juvenile House Finches (I think they are anyway) each time they come to the feeder.

This young oriole was trying to figure out how to jump to the branch for the longest time.

It took several tries, but this was the look of triumph.

Pretty orioles...would love to see one about now! Very cool today here....fall is in the air for sure. I had to shut a couple windows it is so cool!

Melbourne, FL

I'd love to feel that! Still HOT here.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

ah yes, I love september. Cool mornings, lovely 70s in the afternoon. I just had (but no photo) a female Rose-breasted grosbeak. FIrst time I've had them for the fall migration.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Congratulations Mrs Ed, although I'd still love to put fall off for a while. I just don't like the hot one day, freezing the next which is what this month brings our way.

"Stubby", my Brewer's Blackbird was looking pretty in the early morning sun. I'm so glad he's doing well with his broken bill.

The Lesser Goldfinches were playing on the fence.

This Lesser Goldfinch was still looking pretty green.

Oh, I love that spread wing shot, duc!

Well let's see, things are picking up here. I have tons of house sparrows (sigh), but more visits from the downies.

The black capped chickadees are here all the time. I had a total of 3 at one time this summer.

And a pair of white-breasted nuthatch always make things amusing

Nice shots guys!

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

Cute ones Mrs. Ed, I really love that nuthatch.
Rose, really nice redheaded woodpecker. They might be my favorite woodpecker. Those vulture shots are unbelievable. Save those for Halloween.
Duc, love the feather shot of that lesser goldfinch.
GP, congrats on the new birds and the really fabulous shot of that warbler. I've never heard of a warbler that's not shy. That's amazing.
Nanny, can't wait for those pretty goldfinches to come my way.

I still haven't gone through my pictures, and I'm too tired to do it today too. I'll just share this boring old grackle. He flew in and landed on the phone line and all the birds flew away in a panic. I think he was as confused by it as I was.

A new bird for me this afternoon at the Osprey nest. A Shining Bronze-Cuckoo.

It was enjoying the late afternoon sun and didn't turn around to face the camera once. I hope to see it again. I believe it is uncommon in the area.

Congrats Margaret!!

Gee Elphaba, my Goldfinch stay here all winter. So where do the ones that migrate come from??

Spied this cute little Carolina Wren one morning enjoying the sun.

Thumbnail by nanny_56
Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Wish they would show themselves more. I just think they are so cute! I hear them more often than I see them.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Mrs Ed, great job with your downy, chickadee and nuthatch. Those peanuts really draw the birds close.

Elphaba, your "boring old grackle" does have that confused look. Cute!!

Margaret, congrats on the new Cuckoo, love that iridescent coloring.

Nanny, what a sweet looking wren.

I think this is one of my juvenile House Finches.

I was on our lower deck in the backyard when a couple Wrentits began jumping all over the vines on the fence. It's been nearly impossible to capture these fast birds on the camera because they so rarely appear in the open-till yesterday! I was surprised when they jumped to the top of the fence and looked at me.
