First up is the Sanderling. Some of the photos I took at Hunting Beach State Park about 20 miles from Myrtle Beach.

Daily Bird Pics Vol. 343
Methodical, great start for the new thread. I really liked the Cactus Wren and the 1K mm shot of the mocker. What kind of lens did you use on the mocker?
Hack
Wonderful start Met! Love all those shots!
Nice ones Hack, I especially enjoy seeing the Catbird since ours hasn't been around much lately.

Thanks Hack. I used the 500mm and 2x teleconverter. You have Wrens in the summer. Like Nanny, they don't come around 'til late fall/winter but I've been hearing them a lot lately.

I'm absolutely awed by your photos Methodical. You don't just take amazingly detailed shots but you get the bird doing cool things. I love the nuthatch strutting down the tree trunk. Fabulous.
Hack, nice ones. I have a downy coming to my dead Norfolk Pine which is right by the window. None of my shots have been very good though. He's a fast one.
Burn, I am ACHING to see a Raven. Apparently, we don't have them here. One day when I'm traveling...
Yesterday morning I was in a foul mood drinking my morning coffee when I looked up and saw this Yellow-billed Cuckoo staring at me! Very good mood changer! He flipped to the side before I could focus. The camera almost wouldn't focus at all b/c it was so dark but got two OK pics.
Great start everyone. I was just looking at the Painted Bunting pic on the start page and wondering....why doesn't anyone every upload a pic of Painted Buntings on the Daily Pics thread during the spring and summer? I get these birds during the winter, but they have to spend summers somewhere. Where the heck do these birds go? I'll be ordering my Bunting Mix in the next two weeks. Last year I saw my first Buntings in late September.

Al, what a fantastic start to the new thread.
Burd, I really like the shot of the Downy with the Wren at the feeder.
Cute little Blue Jay, Nanny.
Oh la la, Burn, I do like your Bleu Jay.
Horrid House Sparrows, Elphaba. Sweet looking little Cuckoo.
Nice shot of the female Cardinal, Burd. It shows the tail feathers very well.
The "28's" and the Rainbow Lorikeets are vying for the same nest hollow, same as last year and the year before. I hope the 28's win. I'm fairly certain this is a female Rainbow Lorikeet - not quite as vibrantly coloured as the males.
Met, what an awesome start with all your beautiful photos. Thanks! The Nuthatch photos are so crisp and clear. Nice work.
Hack great to see your birds. Is that Catbird a juvie? They sure look similar to the mockingbirds, do you think they're related.
Burn love that Blue Jay shot. The birds are so bright and cheerful looking.
Elphaba, your little Cuckoo is just adorable. Hope it will return for more pictures. That warbler is beautiful.
Burd, nice job with all your photos.
Margaret, what a stunning photo!! Such colorful birds you have there!!
We were back out in the kayak and my husband spotted this pair of American Bitterns.
