I have heard it is difficult, does anyone have experience.? It needs to be moved, but would like not to kill it, as it is mature plant and was a costly seedling (unusual for me)
Gas Plant..dictamus alba...transplanting
Hi Marcia,
Dictamnus is notoriously hard to move. It has a long fleshy tap root. In addition it is marginally hardy for you.
Can you wait until spring to move it?
Take a huge amount of dirt around the root for best success.
Good luck, and let us know how it does.
HI, I actually did get it potted up a couple of days ago. I broke off a couple of root ends, but the plant appears to have survived. I did take a lot of dirt with it...dug at the outer rim of the branch drip zone.
I wanted it out, as; whether or not a new home is found this year :o , I didn't want it anymore.
Thanks for replying. Those roots are more succulent than the ones on the bleeding heart plants that I have moved around,
