Daily Bird Pics Vol. 342

Columbus, GA(Zone 8a)

And my last one for this series.

I still have my Hummers. Here's a Ruby-throated. I'm going to keep my feeders up longer than usual, I understand that I may get some new varieties.

Once again I'm so far behind I think I'm in front. I love everyone's shots - too many to comment on individually.

"28" Parrot from the Osprey nest this afternoon. The Rainbow Lorikeets are trying their best to displace these exquisite native birds from their nest hollow.

Half an hour later. It's probably the same bird each time because it goes to exactly the same cane on the bougainvillaea. Oh, and it's our first day of spring here. Not rejoicing, because it means that summer is not far off.

Red-Shouldered Hawk and a Blue Jay showing his displeassure at his unannounced visit.

HaHa great shot. I've seen several Blue Jays harassing a hawk before

Nice ones Hack! I had about 6 Chipping Sparrows the other day. I think they might have been migrators stopping for a rest. They washed up in the birdbath!

Beautiful '28' Margaret!

Here is a Chipping Sparrow in the bath.....

I have been out looking for warblers but no luck since the other day. But it is still early yet.

I bought this new feeder to put peanuts in for the smaller birds. They seem to like it!

I'm way to far behind, so I'll just tell everyone that I enjoyed seeing all your beautiful photos.

We went out on the lake yesterday and saw a few waterfowl, but not many duck juvies like I expected.

I found one juvie Western Grebe still riding on the adults back.

This pair of Western Grebes didn't seem to mind our kayak.

Duc...you are so brave to shoot from a kayak and get those great shots.

The juvie Goldfinches have finally arrived in the back yard...here is Dad getting ready to feed a noisy one.

GP, Good catch on the Pileated!

Rose, Such a cute series!

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Rose your family of goldfinches are adorable, especially that last one. Great job.

GP, cute birds. I feel sorry for that little grackle-it looks so lost. Lucky you to capture that Pileated-nice job.

Burn, nice assortment of birds you have there!

I took this photo of an American Bittern from the kayak-my first time to see one of these birds even out of the tules.

Not a very good photo, but here's a Pied billed Grebe and juvie hiding in the vegetation. I love the stripes on the juvie.

Nice catch on the Pileated GP...I hear ours around but haven't seen him in the yard lately.

Burn...Nice shots and variety Burn...I would say your Goldfinch have definitely arrived. Ours are eating thistle seed like crazy.

Duc...Love those water birds...how fortunate you get to see them everyday. I wonder what the GBH was doing with that feather?

This poor Blue Jay looks like he has a bad case of feather mites.
