Daily Bird Pics Vol. 342

Hi everyone...great pics to been seen on that last thread!

There has been a slight change in the title for our daily pics threads. From now on it will be called Daily Bird Pics Vol..... Hopefully, this should help if someone is doing a search since so many forums on DG have a "Daily Pic" thread.

Was able to get out yesterday morning and spotted a few warblers already. So fall migration is really under way now!



I even spotted new one for me....a Yellow-Throated Warbler!

Found some little House Wrens too one day.....

This appeared to be a young one...

Turkey Vultures were around too......

I added me a new bird bath this week too! Yes it is made to go on a pedestal but the raccoons will just pull it over and break it. So, I just bought a top and set it on the ground!!

What a wonderful start Nanny-thanks. Congratulations on your new warbler and the wren and vulture photos are great!

We took the dogs for a walk along the lake shore yesterday and I found a few herons, but for the most part, it was pretty quiet.

Here's a Black-crowned Night Heron that was busy fishing and didn't mind my camera snapping photos.

Nanny, I forgot to also say congrats on the new birdbath. Smart thinking to put it on the ground if you have raccoons.

Here's a Green Heron I also found.

Duc, Wonderful pics, I especially like the Black-crowned Night Heron!

The type of flicker depends on which section of the country in which you live.

Lovely birds, Nanny, and good idea for expanding the name of the thread.

New Holland Honeyeaters from the day before yesterday.

After a bath.

Beautiful shot of the Honeyeater. I saw this line of birds this morning, flying north to south. Look like Cormorants.

Soon after this flock of Herons passed over.

This Red-Bellied Woodpecker looks a little out of place.

Good shots, GP. I never realized that the Red-bellied Woodpeckers were as small as that.

messed around editing with this HS in Picasa, as soon as the hummer's have officially left for the year...I will be putting out the suet log and wait for the Red-breasted Nuthatches...last seen in early March. Hope a certain R-b WP show's up also.

Gardenpom... I really like the shot of the red-bellied WP with the doves! I could see some cations coming out of that one on the "It's a bird's world" thread!

Burd... both of those photos are lovely, but I especially like the cardinal! Nice!

Here is a Great Egret from this week.

Burd I really enjoyed the cardinal & his lunch pic. Do you make your own calendars? It really should be placed somewhere.

Margaret, you have the prettiest birds and that New Holland Honeyeater is just one of them. Love the after-bath where it's all fluffy.

GP, great photos of the cormorants and herons. Your little wp looks lost with the doves-so cute.

Burd, that male Cardinal looks so pretty with the lunch. Great job on the little lady too.

I found a juvie Northern Flicker the other day.

Then I found another juvie Northern Flicker on top of a tall tree. This is the first year I've seen the juvies so I considered this a great day for birding.

Speaking of finding the juvies, I found these Acorn Woodpeckers who were more than willing to pose for me.

ducbucln - your herons are great, but that Black-crowned Night Heron blew me away. Nice pic

This female Downy Woodpecker stayed for a while.

At first, I thought this female Hairy Woodpecker was a Downy, until I noticed the all-white tail feathers.

I don't get many Hairy's.

It's been a little while since I snapped a pic of a Brown Thrasher.

My last one is a juvy male Ruby-throated Hummer. It has replaced the male I used to have hanging around as the meanest hummer.

He is sitting on a stretched-out coat hanger I suspended between two feeders. He runs other hummers off.

Duc... I love Northern Flickers and I have only seen one from a great distance. I have to tell you though... that second Acorn WP image is stunning! That is gallery or contest worthy! Love it!

Hack... your whole set is nice! Such cute Downy WP and Titmouse shots. But your Hummer shot is also the stunner here! Very well done!

That Egret was shot at very near dark, and 1600 ISO. I was surprised it turned out that well.

Burn, nice shot of your PFinch! I had a one day visit from one in early spring.
Hack, very nice set of shots! The Brown Thrasher and Ruby are wonderful shots!...look's like you were dialed-in all day.

Had a Magnolia Warbler come through the yard today...it was interested in the suet feeder..but like Hack said "Darn House Sparrow's!" They scared him away. That's alright Mr. Cooper is around and the Sharp-shinned should be here shortly. lol Must have been 60 or 70 HS's today...they all take-off at once...quite loud sometimes.

Thanks for the compliments Rose and Burd - they make my day. Especially coming for two folks who take such great pics.

I have three more I'd like to share today.

The first one is of Carolina Chickadee. I either have one very active bird, or several.
