Mint plant

Does someone knows if a mint plant needs any special treatment?

Iowa Park, TX(Zone 7b)

Are you wanting to grow peppermint? Mint is usually easy to grow. It likes moist soil with lots of compost in it.

We had mint that grew big and took over a flower garden when we lived in Alabama. It was over two feet tall and almost became a weed. But now that I live in Texas, the mint always dies in the summer even though I water it. It may be too hot here (Texas) for mint.

So if you have enough rain, and good soil, the mint should grow well for you.

Different mints grow in different ways- part shade is recommended in afternoons, Chocolate mint loved taking over my rose bushes, spearmint grew slower, but did well in loose soils with frequent water, pineapple mint refused to grow for me at all, apple mint does well some years, ignores me in others and no clue why. Some years it wants to grow but attracts a ton of little green inchworms that even go after the roots, sigh, I remember it does well with cool nites, warm days...
