I have a tropical hibiscus which is beautiful this year and I have it outside. I was hand watering this past Friday (trying to be watchful of our precious water resources - here in NJ we are on a water restriction of odd/even). When I moved the bottom leaf on the front of my plant - I was stung four times by several of the ten to twelve yellow jacket bees that had found a home on the leaf. Since I was watering from the back of the plant I did not notice them.
I have been gardening for almost 35 years and have never been stung and I've never seen this many yellow jacket bees on anything.
We have hosed down the plant - but the bees have come back to the same leaf three days in a row.
Any help would be appreciated. This is my first post - I love your website. Thank you.
