I got the potato at the supermarket and cut it into quarters, stuck them in 4 piles of dirt and they grew... Now I don't know when to harvest. I'm not sure when I planted them. I live in central Ohio. I think I need to know what the plant will look like when it's time to harvest. Can you help? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rich
When do you harvest potatoes?
Drool, Yukon Golds, yummm. we hilled our potatoes, the spuds would crack the earth as they grew so we knew where to look, but, planting time was the week before St Pats- the 17th Feb, they were out of the ground in June, but we would dig a few as they grew, or cover the dirt back up on them if they grew out of ground, sun turns a potato green colored, and that is poisonous to us, but it means the potato is getting ready to sprout and grow plants.
Thanx for this thread. I too did the same thing two years back. I'm a beginner, trying my my luck at small vegetable gardening. this will help me come next spring.
