Lovely blooms Jackie and Nicole!!! Love the nest, too! :-) :-) :-)
Jackie - Look what I got today. First bloom on another seed I started. Looks like I got the crossed Fuji no Sora that reminds me of Hamaginga: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/103768/

mjsponies - that is a Robin's nest & egg. The color is so pretty!
Jackie, you are welcome.
We are finally getting some RAIN,,, yes, well, it is cloudy and thundering.. and hopefully it won't pass us by.
Lillimercithat is a pretty neat nest... we have our barnswallows, they just finished with two clutches this year.. our problem now is going to be those Cowbirds, here's a little bird nest history.
They take advantage of the nest, they stay warm in the winter, then when the barnswallows come back, lay eggs, these darn Cowbirds lay their eggs in one of the other bird's nests (not just the barnswallows nests, but those are the one I see and observe) and have those other birds take care of the eggs, only to come back and get the baby when the eggs hatch. Isn't that so opportunistic, almost like humans. Then, they do it again with other birds.. How interesting.. But this is the other part, once the other birds find out that the babies are not theirs, they dump them out and then if the cowbird's mother doesn't hear them or come and get them, they die. So, they take a big chance when they become the parasitic bird that they are.
Here comes the rain...
A.
Nice blooms ladies love them all.
So glad you're getting the cross blooms Becky, very pretty as are the
other two blooms. You've had spectacular blooms this yr.
Wonderful blooms Helena. Love your light no Mai.
A loved your story re the barn swallows and cow birds. We've had barn swallows
since we moved here in 02. They always nested on our porch under the eaves.
We have so many stray cats now that our swallows nest elsewhere. We miss
our up close view of the babies and watching their progress.
This Fuji no Monet is 4 inches across.
Fuji no monet..... great Jackie.. it looks great. isn't it something in person? It really does look like a watercolor.
Just this morning the darned cowbird was in the nest already scouting it out. They do what they have to do to survive and keep their breed going. I don't know who came up with the term birdbrain, but some of the crows are the smartest birds around. The barnswallow nests are right in front of the window where my computer sits, sometimes I take pictures of them from inside the house.. they are only 5 feet away, and they sit on the ledge of the window about 3 ft away. They look like they are wearing black capes.
robbie, that is a nice rich magenta color, I'd like to get some oil paints in that color, very nice.
Helena - This one: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=8040983 looks like mine in the photo post just above yours! Really pretty blue stripes, aren't they?
Jackie - Fuji no Monet is another of my favorites. The color is superb!
Robbie - Beautiful bloom! That color always reminds me of a royal robe. :-)
Thanks Becky.
