The crows are hanging around more and more which makes me happy!
DAILY PICS VOL. 340
Missy, I bet you had just as much fun watching all the birds in that sprinkler as they did enjoying the cool water. A great idea for the hot days! I love the photos of the Kites-that little one sure got big.
Nanny, that woodpecker looks so pretty in the light. Glad you have the crows, they'll run any hawks out of the area and make it safer for your little birds. Great job and I also loved the "feed me" photo!
It's hot here too and my hummers are always sitting on the deck wires with their mouths open.
Oh that litttle wren is sweet!
Thank you Nanny.
Julie, that little Cardinal is just adorable. I just melt whenever I see a juvenile bird-their faces are always so cute and innocent looking.
Nice pic Julie! The bill certainly stands out when they lose a number of head feathers to mites. I've seen it quite a bit here too.
Duc, Love the Oriole and Wren!
Well darn, I am dogsitting this week for a neighbor. So I was walking Molly on my half circle and she was doing her thing. We are in front of a house that is vacant & for sale it has a 5 foot chainlink fence around it and there sitting on the fence is a Barred Owl!
Sure wish I would have had the camera...but Molly hasn't been trained like Buddy was to stop so I can take pics!
Mrs. Ed that's such a good idea! I love that little chickadee and I have one of those feeders. I'm going to try that too. Where do you have it hanging? -- out in the open, under a tree, near a bush? I'm guessing shade is a good idea.
GP, congrats on finding the flycatcher and getting the pictures.
Yep, sort of, I was giving sugar water to the warblers. They loved it one year and didn't touch it the next. The house finches have been coming to the other hummer feeder. I can't tell for sure if they've just checked it out a few times or if they are actually drinking it.
I have an arbor between trees. It's not nearly as pretty as yours, but it's about to have a watering station for chickadees!
HA! Well good luck!
Nanny, just be glad you got to see the owl on your walk. Maybe it will return some time soon.
Mrs Ed, that chickadee looks cute. Love all the crows!! Hope you and Elphaba will both try that water station.
GP, glad you finally got a chance to photograph that Great Crested.
Thanks to Resin, I was able to identify this as a juvie Red-tailed Hawk. He flew over our house and then returned when I ran out with the camera. My dogs were barking at him which seemed to just intrigue him and he hovered right above us for a few seconds.
Duc, your hawk pics are always great and I love that last one! My orioles left me, but I'm hoping for more.
Those Hawk shots, WOW! He sure is looking at YOU!
Gorgeous shots of the Red-tailed Hawk duc!
Nice shots everyone!! Duc, those R-t Hawk shots are excellent! Love that 2nd shot!
yah, that second one with it looking at the camera is pretty awesome. Like it's going to come down and get you!
Wowee, duc that last shot of the hawk is fantastic!
Thank you everyone. That hawk returned for another round just a few minutes ago. I sure hope we've seen the last of him. I worry about my other birds when he's here.
Duc, what time of day did you take those shots?
Have to agree...that second shot is spectacular!
Gosh I'd love to see a purple finch right now, burn.
Duc, that starling reminds mew of a puffer fish!
I set up the bird camera on this feeder the other day. I think it was a bit close to focus though. Still, love seeing the Dees.
Mrs Ed where did you get that feeder from?
Thanks
I went to Huntley Meadows a week ago... thanks Met for the info! Don't go on Saturdays though! There are way to many photographers and birdwatchers... even at 7am!
Here's a few of what I saw...
This Carolina Wren had a nice fat caterpillar, and looked like he was saying, "I actually have to eat this???" LOL!
Nice series Rose. I'm glad it was some good activity for you. I figured it would be more folks on Saturdays than Sundays and that's one of the reasons I go on Sundays 'cause folks are at home sleeping in.
Someone please ID the little guy for me!
Both this one and the Carolina Wren were catching bugs along the boardwalk.
That's a female Common Yellowthroat
Think this Hooded Oriole is just one of two males with the full coloring. I'm guessing they're just waiting around for the juvies to get a little older before moving on.
Duc those are some fantastic shots of the Orioles. I don't see them at all where I go, except once last year.
All of my birdbaths continue to be in use all day long. This was an oriole that took a dip, then jumped to the side to swish the tail around in the water.
Duc what is that water bubbler in the bird bath and where did you get it? I've been looking for something like that.
Thanks
