DAILY PICS VOL. 340

Watercan, very nice mockingbird shot. When I was out today, I noticed that the Beauty berries are ripe. My beauty berries don't seem to be ready but now I'm wondering if the mockingbirds are eating them so fast that I just didn't know they were ripening.

VA_Wild_Rose, those pictures are stunning! I love the colors on that green heron. Can't believe you saw all that with so many people there. I'm wondering what that second little one is too.

Now and then I get a decent pic of a hummer. In this one of a male Ruby-throat, I like the way the sun is reflecting off his neck feathers.

A Red Wattlebird zoomed in and temporarily dislodged a Little Corella from its perch high in our gum tree. You'll need to look closely to see part of the Wattler.

The image is probably too small to be able to see that the Corella has closed it's eyes - drama queen

OMG Margaret, that last shot is soooo cool! I had to take a minute to figure out where his beak was and then it all fell into place.

Margaret, it amazes me that that little Wattlebird can cause the larger Corella to fly off or jump. Super photos!

This female House Finch (I think) was enjoying the tabletop fountain this morning but only after the "bossy" male had his turn and flew off.

We have a few younger Brewer's Blackbirds that have begun to look pretty handsome.

I was wondering why the birds got quiet all of a sudden and then I spotted the Red-tailed Hawk flying very low in and out of the trees along the lake.

Cooper's Hawk visited early morning.

So far I'm just seeing one Mockingbird here, but since the berries are beginning to turn red, I know I'll be seeing more soon.

Found this Black-headed Grosbeak in the neighbors apple tree.

Also caught these juvenile Calif. Quail sneaking through the neighbors fence.

This California Towhee looked a little rugged this morning.

It has been over 100 degrees here for 17 days straight and no measurable rain. HELP! I got out the fancy sprinkler this evening and had plenty of takers. At one point, the entire EBB family was in the sprinkler and then about 10 Robins. I even had an Oriole join in. Here's a Robin, I'm pretty sure I heard a , "Wheeeee!" at some point.

We have had this cute male Hairy Woodpecker coming the last few days....I always hear him fussing before he gets to the suet!
