DAILY PICS VOL. 340

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Hope you all enjoyed the photos in that last thread-

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1120924/

Think I'll start us out with a Starling that was all fluffed up at the park a few days ago. We don't see as many of these birds as most of you so I'm always happy to see them.

This female California Quail looked pretty in the morning sun.

I always have the most laughs when a juvie Oak Titmouse can't figure out how all the other birds are getting their chopped peanuts from the top of this box. They watch other birds land on the screen from the top and you can just imagine what they're trying to figure out.

This one never did try to get to the right side, but it did manage to pull a peanut through the screen.

Great pics duc! The Starling is beautiful! Thanks for starting the new thread!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Wow, Duc your pictures seem to get better and better everytime. Thank you for the new thread. Hi Pelle. I've been missing in action for a while but I'm glad to be back and enjoy our threads. Such good photo of the Starling. Love those juvies antics. They're a source of joy to watch.

A few of the Goldfinches began to return to our area. Not as many, but one here and there. I am happy to spot them on three top when I am out in the garden. Here is a female goldfinch and a male housefinch above her.

Oh...great start!! Thanks for the new thread duc!!

I have noticed the starlings starting to gather in big flocks now around here ready to migrate.

Have a few more House Finch here now...I really like having them around! Noce shot Lily!

It is just too hot to go out looking for birds. We are supposed to cool down a little next week. I sure hope so!

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

Beautiful start Duc. The details on your pics are always so amazing. I was just sure that I loved that upside-down one the most, then I kept going up and shoot that Starling is magnificent!

Lily_Love that's a great picture of those finches.

I had a beautiful male pine warbler and a beautiful male hummer. Didn't get a pic of either! Maybe tomorrow. Hopefully, it will rain though.

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Lol love the Titmouse, Duc, Our Starlings have not come to the yard yet this Summer, but I have also seen them gathering in groups in the countryside.I expect their visit in September.

Lily, cute little Goldfinch and house finch.
This Hairy woodpecker got spooked and flew to the roof, he`s sitting on the gutter and checking around, to see if everything is safe to come back..

He decided it was safe to come back to this feeder.

Nice shots Duc! and thanks for starting the newest thread! I really like the Red-tailed Hawk shot from the last thread. I have told myself I would try to gets nice shots of a R-tH by the end of summer..ha haven't seen but one in the last 2 month's, anyways I,m changing to shots by the end of the year. lol
Nice shot Lily! I have noticed here a slight change in visitor's with "fall coming" lol...when it starts to cool down up here more..and knowing I may be spending another winter here at my current residence I will be trying to see if I can get Elvis to return with the suet he like's.
Nice shots Burn! Really like the gutter shot!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Gosh I'd love to see a purple finch right now, burn.

Duc, that starling reminds mew of a puffer fish!

I set up the bird camera on this feeder the other day. I think it was a bit close to focus though. Still, love seeing the Dees.

I want to find a good mesh feeder for peanuts before winter. Now that Buddy is gone, I can do a little more and not have to worry about him eating everything. That one thing I bought the peanuts fall out too easy.

I saw at least 2 dozen robins while out walking early(before the heat!) this morning. So they are flocking up too.

I had such a wonderful surprise this morning.....a Juvie Red-bellied Woodpecker!! That was so nice!

Lily, looks like the goldfinches and the other finches really enjoy the meals you give them.

Burn that little woodpecker couldn't be any cuter.

Burd, sorry you're not finding another home, but I sure look forward to seeing Elvis soon.

Mrs. Ed, your chickadee is a cutie.

Nanny, that juvie red-bellied is sweet. I would have been excited too. I love that expression in the second photo.

We're seeing our Osprey everywhere now, but they're never carrying fish when they come past our home.

ducbucln - that Starling was a good one to start the new thread with. And the juvie Oak Titmouse was funny.

burn_2007 - I enjoying the Hairy WP, I get them around here, but not very often.

Mrs_Ed - yep, that Chickadee is a bit close, lol.

nanny_56 - I saw a Juvie Red-bellied Woodpecker just the other day, but by the time I got my camera, it was gone. You have some nice pics of yours.

ducbucln - that pic of the Acorn Wp is super.

Sweet juvy Red-bellied and Phoebe nanny!

Duc, Wonderful shots! Love that Oriole and Acorn Woodpecker!

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Great start Duc... I do like the fluffed Starling and your Quail certainly is pretty in the morning light.

Lily... it's always nice to see more than one type of bird sharing the feeders! Our group is pretty good for that too.

Burn... what a cute little Hairy WP!

Mrs. Ed... I really like that feeder!

Nanny... I am always a fan of the Red-bellied WP!

And Duc... encore on the Acorn WP! They are so pretty!

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

I went to Huntley Meadows a week ago... thanks Met for the info! Don't go on Saturdays though! There are way to many photographers and birdwatchers... even at 7am!

Here's a few of what I saw...

This Carolina Wren had a nice fat caterpillar, and looked like he was saying, "I actually have to eat this???" LOL!

A female Common Yellowthroat... ID'd by Methodical (thank you!)

Both this one and the Carolina Wren were catching bugs along the boardwalk.

Wonderful pics and very talented photogs here, as always!!

- All awesome shots Ducbucln, especially love the quail, the Oriole & the Acorn woodpecker!
I had a feeder just like that lily, it lasted 1½ years. - until the squirrel broke it! :(
Great shot of the downy looking around to see if the coast is clear Burn! lol!
VA, there's such diversity of waterfowl in that area, looks quite serene, great shots!

- Just wanted to add a pic I took today...

Mockingbird in my backyard this am, near his late summer food supply - Elderberries, which he has been sharing for the last month with another Mock.

Wow great pic WC!!

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Wild Rose, your little wren is a sweetie. Love that "strike a pose" shot-beautiful. Great photos of the GBH and the Egret too!

Water Can, love your little Mockingbird with the berries.

I may be shy a bunch of hummingbirds this year, but all my orioles have managed to capture my heart and most of my time with the camera.

I liked this photo of the juvenile.

Thumbnail by ducbucln
Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Think this Hooded Oriole is just one of two males with the full coloring. I'm guessing they're just waiting around for the juvies to get a little older before moving on.

This is just one of the feeders and there's never a dull moment with these birds.

WOW...WC...looks like I could reall touch that mocker!!

Beautiful orioles duc...ours just seemed like the got here and then they were gone...poof!

How about a little Ruby-throated Hummingbird...
